JANUARY 1956
Jan 1st Sunday - Lovely 33 degrees
Ted got home at 7:30 this morning from the dance in Roy. Had to take Sidney home. Al got home about 3:30 this morning. Came back from Minneapolis on Friday and stayed in Lewistown. I got Teds stuff ready to go to school tomorrow. Baked cookies
Jan 2nd Monday - nice 20 degrees - 32 degrees
Ted went to school. Gib and I went to see Earl Sheldons, then to Roy on auxiliary business. Got membership blanks ready to mail.
Jan 3rd Tuesday - nice 40 degrees
Gib and Al did chores, fixed fence between Sharps and Kalals. I baked bread and made doughnuts.
Jan 4th Wednesday - nice 49 degrees then colder zero
Men finished fence. I washed in afternoon, washed bedroom curtains and put them up again.
Jan 5th Thursday - colder
I ironed, put up curtains over clothes. Men cleaned the barn. Cut Al's hair. Rays came.
Jan 6th Friday - Cold S. E. breeze 12 degrees
I washed my hair, bake 2 apple pies, roasted a chicken. We went to Mrs. Bauman's birthday party for a pot luck supper. Ted came home about 11 P.M.
Jan 7th Saturday - 40 degrees
Al went to help Baumans vaccinate calves. I cleaned house, starched and pressed ruffle doily. Monte went to show in Lewistown with Al and Ted.
Jan 8th Sunday - cool N. W. Wind 20 degrees
I baked bread, cookies, doughnuts and cut Ted's hair.
Jan 9th Monday cool - S. E. Wind 30 degrees
Ted went to school. He and Sidney came out to show us their photos about 2:30. Men ground feed. I patched some overalls, crocheted, figured auxiliary financial records.
Jan 10th Tuesday very nice - 33 degrees
I baked a cake for meeting tonight. Washed my hair. We went to Legion meeting with Rays.
Jan 11th Wednesday - very nice
Gib and I went to Lewistown, took the folks and Gene's to a smorgasbord supper at Eagles hall.
Jan 12th Thursday - nice 32 degrees
Al helped Fuglestad spray cattle. Gib rested. I crocheted, darned and figured on income tax. Al went to a show in Roy.
Jan 13th Friday - cloudy cool 22 degrees
I cleaned house with the vacuum cleaner, cut out a dress for Sharon and sewed it up. The men cleaned the west barn. Frank Southworth stopped.
Jan 14th Saturday - cold zero - 2 degrees above, snow 5 inches and wind
The boys went to Lewistown about 10 AM I washed dried clothes inside. Frank stopped on the way to Roy. I started another TV doily.
Jan 15th Sunday - 10 below zero
I baked a cake, ironed some shirts for Ted, baked bread, crocheted on TV doily. Wrote to Mae.
Jan 16th Monday - light snow 2 below to 10 degrees
I put a zipper in Sharons dress. Crocheted on TV doily. Al went to Lewistown to a show and stayed overnight. Worked on income tax and auxiliary work.
Jan 17th Tuesday - nice zero to 31 degrees
I crocheted and made cookies and pudding. Al got home at noon. Rays came for water.
Jan 18th Wednesday - nice - fog in morning nice 23 degrees
Gib and I went to Roy for groceries and income tax. Al worked on his car.
Jan 19th Thursday - fog in morning, nice 33 degrees
Al went to Roy in PM to work on his car. We went to Rays. In the evening they and Kosirs came over and we all went to Roy to a Fellowship meeting at Mrs Harrells at the restaurant.
Jan 20th Friday - fog and frosty - 5 below to 14 degrees
I baked bread, ironed, darned some hose and crocheted. Men did chores.
Jan 21st Saturday - fog - 16 below to 14th degrees chilly
Cleaned and dusted house, made cookies, fried chicken. Al went to Lewistown and Ted went to Winnett.
Jan 22nd Sunday - nice 30 degrees
Al came home about noon. I baked cookies and scrubbed the kitchen floor. Baumans came in evening.
Jan 23rd Monday - nice, partly cloudy - 31 degrees
I washed . Men went to Roy for fuel and to get Ted some coal.
Jan 24th Tuesday - nice 33 degrees
The men helped Baumans spray cattle. I wrote to Bob's and crocheted on TV cover.
Jan 25th Wednesday - cool 6 below in morning to 26 degrees
The men helped Baumans spray cattle. I wrote to Emily, ironed and crocheted.
Jan 26th Thursday - 10 below in morning to 16 degrees chilly
The men ground feed, dumped the ashes, cleaned the toilet, watered the cattle and went to Rays. I crocheted and canned 6 quarts of squash.
Jan 27th Friday - snow - 6 below in morning to 6 degrees - colder windy and snow part of the day
I finished the TV doily, baked bread, made pie and doughnuts. Men brought the cattle home as it was snowing, blowing, but it cleared up before night. Al went to game in Roy. Gib and Al went to Roy to take social security numbers to Mrs. Murphy.
Jan 28th Saturday - 7 below in morning to 3 above cold
I cleaned house, washed and stretched doily. Ted went to Lewistown in morning for a sinus treatment. Men took the cattle back to Ackerlys. Al went to town in PM.
Jan 29th Sunday - 12 below to 4 below snow. - Mr. Southworth died
Boys got up about noon. Men did chores. I baked 2 cakes and got supper early. Ted went back to Roy this evening.
Jan 30th Monday - 20 below to 3 below cold
Men did chores. I wrote to Alberts, wrote out annual report for auxiliary and crocheted pot holders. Rays came for water.

FEBRUARY 1956
Feb 1st Wednesday
Gib and I went to Charlie Southworths funeral. We took the folks to Helen Brysons for supper and watched TV. Got home about midnight.
Feb 2nd Thursday
Rays came for water. Al went to Roy to do some work on his car. I crocheted.
Feb 3rd Friday
I washed, mopped, dried clothes outside. Men drove over to Franks to see how John was getting along. Ted came home after game.
Feb 4th Saturday
Ted had to go to Lewistown for treatment for flu and get new tires. Al went to town in afternoon. John LaFountain came to get Gib to help with a calf. Ted came home early.
Feb 5th Sunday
We went to church. Ted helped Gib water cattle, worked on his car.
Feb 6th Monday
Monte came then Gib and Al helped finish their roofing in PM. I made 2 apples pies and crocheted. Rays came for water for calves.
Feb 7th Tuesday
I baked bread, hemmed a dress and crocheted. Men ground feed.
Feb 8th Wednesday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. Baumans took our alfalfa seed in. Went to help unload, but they were not home.
Feb 9th Thursday
Gib sick in bed with flu. I washed and melted snow and mopped. Al went to Bauman's to help put on sheet rock.
Feb 10th Friday
Gib still sick. I ironed and fixed dresses. Al help Baumans in afternoon.
Feb 11th Saturday
I cleaned house, hung our bedspread out to air. Washed my hair, Washed out a few clothes. Al did all the chores and then went to Lewistown about 2 PM.
Feb 12th Sunday
Rays came for water. I baked bread, cake, and cookies. We all went to church to see the 'Martin Luther" picture. Ted came home.
Feb 13th Monday
Ted went to school. The men cleaned the barn. I darned sox, wrote to Aunt Edith.
Feb 14th Tuesday
I baked 2 cakes, cookies and made sandwiches for tonight. Rays hauled 4 barrels of water. Mildred came second trip. We all went to Legion meeting at night.
Feb 15th Wednesday - 34 below to 4 above
I crocheted and painted dolls. Men did chores.
Feb 16th Thursday
I washed and fixed my hair. I went to fellowship meeting at Mrs. Aho's with Rays.
Feb 17th Friday
I crocheted awhile. Men did chores.
Feb 18th Saturday
Rays came for water, then went to Roy. I cleaned house and baked bread. Ted came home with a sprained ankle. Al went to town at noon.
Feb 19th Sunday
I baked 2 cakes, 2 batches of cookies, washed and ironed some of Ted's clothes, cut and washed his hair. Rays got water.
Feb 20th Monday
Ted went to school. Has to use crutches. I hauled snow and cleaned cellar. Ray hauled water and Mildred fixed my hair. Men hauled a wagon load of snow.
Feb 21st Tuesday
I washed, mopped and crocheted. Men brought cattle home from Ackerlys and put them up south on the creek.
Feb 22nd Wednesday
Gib and I went to Lewistown, our car quit by Fergus and we went in with Cimrhakls. Gene and Gib went out to get the car after 5 AM. We took Gene's car home, stopped at Hilger for a meeting at Rev. Dorsett's home. Frank came.
Feb 23rd Thursday
Didn't do much. Rays came for water every day.
Feb 24th Friday
Gib and I went to Roy. I went to practice for Easter music, came home with Ted.
Feb 25th Saturday
The boys went to Lewistown this morning. Monte came. I cleaned house, baked cake and cookies
Feb 26th Sunday
Gene, Maxine and Mary came out about 3 PM here for supper. Spiroffs came for water. Rays were here for water and stayed awhile in afternoon.
Feb 27th Monday
Ted went to school. Al took me to Roy in P.M. to practice for Easter. Joe Kosirs came in evening and Rays stopped on way home from Lewistown. All here for supper.
Feb 28th Tuesday
Al went to Lewistown for treatment about noon. I baked, crocheted and painted with the tube paints. Gib went to special Legion meeting with Ray and Joe.
Feb 29th Wednesday
Al helped Frank spray cattle. We went to Fergus at night to a church meeting. Ray rode with us.
MARCH 1956
March 1st Thursday
I made raised doughnuts. Al and I went to the Legion doings at Roy high school with Rays tonight. Mrs Joyce Robinson and others were there.
March 2nd Friday
We drove over to Mikes to see if he was going to spray cattle. They spayed in afternoon. I mopped, washed windows and made doughnuts. Ted came home about 6.
March 3rd Saturday
Men went to Mikes to finish spraying. Boys went to town about 3 P. M. I made 3 pies. Monte stopped on way to town. Ted hauled water.
March 4th Sunday
We all went to church, then Gib and I went to Kosirs in P. M.
March 5th Monday
I washed, then Gib and I went to Roy to practice for Easter music. Had a special auxiliary meeting. Took Mildred home and had supper there. Al went to Heils. Bob and Danny Cimrhakl came in plane in P.M.
March 6th Tuesday

Man came to spray cattle. Mike, Don and Ray helped. I ironed in P. M. Al went to Roy.
March 8th Thursday
Men did chores. I patched, practiced piano and crocheted, baked bread. Hauled a load of coal, then Al took a load of wheat in.
March 9th Friday
I gave Mrs. Myers a permanent. Gib went to grazing meeting. Ted came home.
March 10th Saturday
Cleaned house. Al went to Lewistown. We went to school play. Ted and kids went on to dance at Grass Range.

Al hauled a load of wheat and I went to Roy to practice for choir.

Men ground feed. We went to Legion meeting.

Gib and I went to Lewistown. Ted went to career day in Lewistown.

March 16th Friday
Earl Sheldons left for Great Falls today. I did some washing. Al helped Baumans spray a cattle, then got their saddle horse and brought our horses home. Bob Cimrhakl came and took Al in his plane. Then Al took Baumans horse home. Ted got home for supper.
March 17th Saturday
I did some baking and mopped kitchen. Washed my hair and cut Gib's. Al went to Lewistown. We went to St Patrick dance in Roy.
March 18th Sunday
Didn't do much. Ted worked on his car. Frank and Marie Cimrhakl came.
March 19th Monday
I baked bread and cake and went to Roy for choir practice in afternoon. Al cleaned barn, men ground feed.
March 20th Tuesday
Gib cleaned chicken house, Al worked at cleaning the shed. We went to Roy to a meeting with Rev. Dorsett in evening. Stopped and took Milton Kalina's along.
March 21st Wednesday
Gib went to Lewistown and I stayed in Roy to help paint and clean the church. Al cleaned shed and brought a cow and new calf home.
March 22nd Thursday
Men brought cattle in from south and kept the heifers and some cows to be fresh in and then worked at the shed. I sewed up a dress, and bolero made by Ida's pattern.
March 23rd Friday
The men helped Bauman's vaccinate and dehorn calves. I fixed stuff for pot luck supper and Gib and I went to Fergus at night with Rays to see an Easter movie. Ted left for Billings this morning for some school affair, took a load of girls.
March 24th Saturday
Men did chores, hauled a load of manure, then Al went to Lewistown. Monte stopped. I washed, uncovered roses and flowers.
March 25th Sunday
Gib did chores and looked after cows. We have seven calves. I baked cake and cookies and ironed. Young Nick stopped. Ted got home from Billings.
March 26th Monday
Gib worked on Sharps till noon. We let Ted sleep till 11 A M. He worked on Sharps in P M. Al helped Ray haul two loads of hay from Anderson's. Gib took me to Roy for choir practice.
March 27th Tuesday
Cold strong wind. I went to Roy with Ted this morning to work at the church. Blizzard down there. Six of us worked till noon, then Ted took Dorothy Kalina and I home. Ted changed gas tanks, then went back to school. I ironed in afternoon
March 28th Wednesday
I lengthened the sleeves on Teds sport coat, sewed and crocheted. Men did chores, looked after cows. Have 10 calves.
March 29th Thursday
I pressed some shirts, darned stockings. Gib took me to Roy for choir practice in P M. Ted came home and got clothes and left to go on Senior Sneak day. We went to Harvey's in evening.
March 30th Friday
Men brought some more cows home from over South west on Richards. Have 15 calves. Al finished on Sharps and worked on Ackerlys. Rays came for water. I cleaned house with vacuum cleaner and mopped kitchen, took plastic off kitchen windows, baked bread.
March 31st Saturday
Al finished field on Ackerlys, then went to Lewistown in afternoon. I cleaned house, cut Gib's hair. Gib worked up S. E. field in afternoon.
APRIL 1956
April 1st Sunday
We got up at 5 A. M. and went to Roy to Easter Services at 6:30. Al and Rays went along. Rays came over for dinner, I tried on some dresses and Mildred measured them for me. Ted got home at 1:30 A. M.
April 2nd Monday
Ted went to school at noon. Al took wheat to Roy to be cleaned and sowed some on Sharps. Gib fed cattle. I finished my yellow bolero dress.
April 3rd Tuesday
Al finished Sharps and sowed wheat on Ackerlys. Gib did chores, fed cattle, rode over to north pasture and to south west pasture. I baked Gib's birthday cake and did some washing.
April 4th Wednesday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. Had dinner at Gene's, coffee at Trimbles and supper with the folks. Al finished sowing wheat.
April 5th Thursday
I ironed some. Too windy to work in the field.
April 6th Friday
I mopped kitchen, swept the whole house, ironed, made cookies and doughnuts and cake. Ted came home about 5 o clock.
April 7th Saturday
I lengthened the sleeves on Ted's good suit and make the pants smaller. Al went to Lewistown about 9:30. Ted did some welding on his car. Stayed home at night. Gib went to school election. Mildred drove over in the pickup.
April 8th Sunday
Boys got up at 11 A. M. Ted worked on his car and couldn't fix something so he took it in to Gene and Al went in to bring him back. They took the motor out of the car and left it there. Gib and I drove over to Rays after supper. Ted stayed in Roy.
April 9th Monday
I washed, baked bread and cake. Al took barley to town to be cleaned and sowed some on north west hill. Gib did chores and kept busy all day.
April 10th Tuesday
I ironed some, baked cookies. Men took our cows and calves over on south Richards pasture. Ted, Betty and Gene Wright came out after school to do some welding on Gene's car. We went to Legion meeting with Rays.
April 11th Wednesday
Al got some barley cleaned, then helped Frank all afternoon. Frank got Gib in forenoon to help pull a calf. I finished ironing and washed windows. Jerry Siroky's came in evening for some seed barley.
April 12th Thursday
Al sowed barley on east side of north field. Gib and I drove over to Mikes. Ted came out to get our car to go to Lewistown. I swept, mopped and crocheted. Men put all cows with calves out of Ralph's pasture in to Richards. I transplanted or reset some house plants.
April 13th Friday
Men went to see if they could help Mike. Rays came for seed barley. Car salesman came to see Allen.
April 14th Saturday
Boys went to Lewistown about 11. Stayed over Sunday to work on Ted's car.
April 15th Sunday
I went with Gib to feed cattle.
April 16th Monday
Gib and I went to Lewistown, stayed overnight. Had dinner at Peoples then went to see Petersons.
April 17th Tuesday
Al went to help Vernon fix fence around grazing district. We got home about 9:30 and fed the cattle, gave a calf some medicine. Lost one calf. I sewed up Sharon's dress
April 18th Wednesday
I gave myself a permanent, made a nightgown, swept the whole house. Bob Cimrhakl came in his plane. Al went to show in Roy. Frank came.
April 19th Thursday
Al went to help Frank take cattle out on range. I went to help Gib feed cattle. We went to Fellowship meeting at Milton Kalina's at night. Took Rays along. Dick and Margie came at 2 o clock in the morning.
April 20th Friday
Dick and Margie left for Lewistown at noon. Left the kids here. Al went to Lewistown with Monte to take sick cow in.
April 21st Saturday
I washed, It turned cold and snowed. Al went to Lewistown about 2.
April 22nd Sunday
Al and Ted worked on Ted's car in Lewistown. I baked bread, dusted and mopped and ironed. Myers came about 5:30.
April 23rd Monday
Al helped Fuglestad brand calves all day. I baked 2 batches of cookies and cut out doll clothes for Sharon.
April 24th Tuesday
I washed the kids clothes and ironed them. Made some doll clothes. Dick and Margie came back and left again in afternoon. Al helped Fuglestad all day. Gib did chores, rode over to see the cows.
April 25th Wednesday
I cleaned up the house and gave Mildred a permanent at her place after dinner. Gib and Al took the yearlings over to Richard's pasture and put cow and calves out on Peterson's. Katherine and Dorothy came while we were gone.
April 26th Thursday
Men rode over to see cattle. Finished and stretched doilies. Got ready to go to town.
April 27th Friday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. Stopped in Roy on way home at the Poppy Poster contest. Brought Ted home with us.
April 28th Saturday
I swept and dusted. Rested some. Boys went to Lewistown in forenoon. We went to Banquet and Prom at night.
April 29th Sunday
The boys were in Lewistown working on Ted's car. We rested. Mikes came. Al came home.
April 30 Monday
Al went to to town. I washed, ironed and baked. Mildred came.
MAY 1956
May 1st Tuesday
Bill and Katherine Marsh came and we filled out the auxiliary annual reports. They stayed for supper. Al went back to Lewistown before noon to help on Ted's car.
May 2nd Wednesday
I washed the whole kitchen. Al came home in afternoon and Ted got home about 11 P.M.
May 3rd Thursday
Ted left for Bozeman abut 9 A. M. Allen and I started to paint the ceiling in the living room. Gib did the chores, went over south to see the cows.
May 4th Friday - rainy
Al and I finished painting the living room, but ran out of paint. Rays came. Gib did dishes and got the meals. Did chores.
May 5th Saturday - Rainy
Men came selling welders. Al went to town in P. M. I mopped and waxed furniture. Ted came home from Bozeman in the night.
May 6th Sunday
Ted slept till 3 P.M. Al came home about 5 P.M.
May 7th Monday
Ted went to school. I was tired and didn't do much. Men sowed barley in west alfalfa field.
May 8th Tuesday
I did a big washing, drapes, and curtains too. Men fixed fence, then sowed barley in east alfalfa field in P.M.
May 9th Wednesday
Men fixed fence, then started to plow summer fallow on Sharps. I dampened clothes, then finished painting living room in P.M. Ted came out for a while. Al went to Baumans in evening.
May 10th Thursday
Men worked on Sharps till noon. Too wet under the straw. Monte stopped and took Al to Lewistown with him. Gib and I went to Roy. Don Kalinas came in evening. Ted, Betty, Jean Lettengarver, Helen Sherlock and Mrs. Wilcox went to Helena with Shirley and Billy Ward to their wedding.
May 11th Friday
I did some ironing and some work on the auxiliary books. Al finished on Sharps. Ted got home in the night.
May 12th Saturday
I mopped, dusted, ironed and made a cake. Gib plowed north and west of the dam, while Al rode over to see cattle. Then Al plowed till about 5 and went to town. Gib plowed and did chores. Ted stayed home tonight.
May 13th Sunday
I baked pie, buns and baked beans for tonight. Ted worked on his car. We all went to Mothers day dinner at the high school. Rays went along.
May 14th Monday
Gib finished plowing north field while Al looked for a calf. I went to MIldreds to get my hair fixed but Nelson's, Pucketts, and Clara came so I came home and waxed all my floors. Wrote to Richards.
May 15th Tuesday
I washed nearly all the windows and took storm windows down. dusted. The men sowed barley up south, west of the dam, then started to plow on the flat.
May 16th Wednesday
I washed by hand, ironed and put kitchen curtains up. Men plowed the flat.
May 17th Thursday
I put on window screens. Mildred and Clara came in afternoon and gave me a Nutri-tonic permanent. Al plowed up west and south of dam. Went to fellowship at Don Kalinas.
May 18th Friday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. Ted came home. Went to Rays at night. Mrs. Myers came.
May 19th Saturday
Al helped Fuglestads brand calves till about 1 P.M. Ted washed our car then they both went to town. I baked bread worked on Auxiliary stuff.
May 20th Sunday
Gib and Mrs. Myers went to Harlowton to a Legion convention, then came back in time for the Baccalaureate services. Dicks came home with us.
May 21st Monday
Allen helped Spiroffs brand, got home about 1:30. Then he and Dad worked on the plow. Dick went to Lewistown in the morning. Al, Margie and the kids and I went to class night. Mildred came over in P. M.
May 22nd Tuesday
Al helped Frank all day. We didn't do much but visit. Gib helped Baumans brand till noon. We all went to Graduation exercises. Dick got home about 1:30.
May 23rd Wednesday
Dick, Margie Ronnie, and Ted went to Lewistown. Sharon stayed here. Al helped Frank till noon. Gib finished plowed up south west field.
May 24th Thursday
I washed by hand. Harry Wright brought fuel. Gib and Al drove out on the range.
May 25th Friday
Al cleaned the barn. Gib, I, and Sharon went to Roy in P.M. Brought some things home from Al's house. I ironed. Ted came home.
May 26th Saturday
I cleaned house and ironed. Al went to Lewistown this morning. Gib brought Spot and her new calf in. Dick's came home in P. M.
May 27th Sunday
Got a big dinner. Gene's came out and all our boys were home. Had a thunder storm and one and one half inches of rain.
May 28th Monday
The men drove over to Rays, then rode over south to see how much it rained. I rested till noon, then sewed up a dress for Sharon. Ted left this morning to go to work with Frank Zahler for Kirby Company.
May 29th Tuesday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. I went to Dr Culley. We stopped at Dorsett's on way home. Al had lots of company while we were gone.
May 30th Wednesday
I rested in forenoon, baked bread and two cakes in afternoon. Dick Kalina came to measure fields. Al went to Cimrhakls.
May 31st Thursday
Men went to help Mike brand. I set out some plants, crocheted and set out 36 tomato plants in evening.
JUNE 1956
June 1st Friday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. I took a treatment again. We got home about 4 o clock. Al went fishing at Valentine. I planted garden.
June 2nd Saturday
I did a big washing. Men drove out on range, tried to sow grass seed. Went to Mikes to see about his drill. Al went to Lewistown.
June 3rd Sunday
Boys didn't come home. We went to church. I mopped floors and washed my hair. Went to Cliff Marsh's for dinner. Ted came home in the night.
June 4th Monday
Al got home about 7 A.M. Gib went to Don's and borrowed his drill and sowed alfalfa in west end of the flat. I ironed, washed some and ironed some more. Harold Wescott came and the boys helped him load up a cement mixer at the school house.
June 5th Tuesday
I finished ironing and cut out a dress for Sharon. Rays came for water. Ted went back to Lewistown to see if he could sell some Kirbys. Gib went to vote. Al rode over to see cattle.
June 6th Wednesday
We branded our cattle. Then went to Rays. I drove over to help Mildred.
June 7th Thursday
Gib and Al drove our cattle out to the holding pasture, then we went to Lewistown about noon. I went to Drs. Dione and Culley.
June 8th Friday
Men took the cattle away out on the range. Didn't get back till 4 o clock. I made Sharon blue plaid dress, baked cups cakes. Cut Al's hair.
June 9th Saturday
I swept, mopped, baked a cake and buns. Washed my hair, cut Gib's hair. Finished Sharon's dress and apron and Dick's pants. Al went to town.
June 10th Sunday
Ted got ready and left for Glasgow. Gib and I went to church picnic at Yeager's grove.
June 11th Monday
Al rode out on range to see cattle. I did a little patching and mixed some paint. Gib and Al brought the yearlings home. We went to Styers and Al to get Don Myers to haul tomorrow.
June 12th Tuesday
Mickey and Don each hauled a load of cattle. Gib and Al worked on the mower and rake. I baked bread.
June 13th Wednesday
Gib and I went to Lewistown, saw cattle sold and bought a 1955 Chevrolet. I went to Dr. Dion. Al went to Havre with Monte.
June 14th Thursday
I washed by hand and ironed. Gib helped work on the school house all day. Al and Monte got home about 4 o clock and Al went over to help him unload a rake.
June 15th Friday
The men branded the young bull and put him over south. Harold B. and Mildred came for a little while. I cut out kitchen curtains and hemmed a few.
June 16th Saturday
Gib and I went to see Agusta this morning about auxiliary business. Then I cleaned house. Al rode out on range, then went to Lewistown.
June 17th Sunday
Gib and I went to church, cultivated corn in late afternoon and then went to Rays.
June 18th Monday
I painted lower part of kitchen and woodwork dark green. Men worked on mower awhile. Al went to Monte to get some welding done.
June 19th Tuesday
Men took one big bull over south and brought the young bull home and put him and the other big bull out on the range. I painted cupboard and tables yellow. Alice and Monte came. Joyce Rindal came. Al mowed around garden.
June 20th Wednesday
Gib, I and Mildred went to Lewistown. We went to see the folks, Gene's and Mrs. Heller. Bought linoleum for the kitchen and Ed Styer brought it out. Al mowed alfalfa.
June 21st Thursday
It rained last night so we put down the linoleum, worked all day, put stove and cupboard back in kitchen.
June 22nd Friday
I painted the inside of the cupboard and repainted quarter round, put things away. We put the stove pipe up again. Al rode out on range then raked hay by garden in evening and Gib bunched it.
June 23rd Saturday
Al raked hay and Gib bunched it. I painted red on knobs and handles, put dishes back in cupboard, mopped and dusted, baked cake and cookies. Al went to town.
June 24th Sunday
We went to Rodeo in Roy. Ted came back from Glasgow and he and Al and Betty came out to the Rodeo. Ted didn't get out home. Is going back tomorrow. Al brought Gene Wright out with him.
June 25th Monday
Al, Gib and Gene stacked hay. Baked a cake and pie. Rested and crocheted a little after dinner. Mildred came over for awhile.
June 26th Tuesday
I washed nearly all day and baked bread. The men hauled in one load of hay, then Al mowed some, Gib worked summer fallow on the flat. Danny Biggs came, Dean Walrod came to fix something for Olie. Al took Gene to Olie's, then to Roy, then finished on the flat.
June 27th Wednesday
Al cut and raked a little more alfalfa,. Gib worked on north summer fallow, then Al finished it by noon, hauled water, then started to work on Sharps. I ironed and hung bedroom curtains.
June 28th Thursday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. I to Dion and Olsen. Al hauled in some hay and worked on Sharps.
June 29th Friday
I cleaned one closet, baked bread and cleaned around the house. The men finished on Sharps. Al mowed some weeds around the buildings.
June 30th Saturday
I washed all the windows, mopped the kitchen, dusted and fixed bedrooms for Alberts when they come. I washed a blanket, all the bedroom and closet door curtains and ironed them also the ruffles off the washroom windows.
JULY 1956
July 1st Sunday
I washed my hair, waxed the living room, washroom and porch floors and polished the refrigerator and stove. Finished ironing washroom curtains and Alberts came to Rays. The boys stayed here. We were all over there for supper.
July 2nd Monday
Gib, Ray, Albert and Helen went to Lewistown. The boys stayed here. Mildred came over was sick with headache all day. Alberts all stayed here.
July 3rd Tuesday
Had dinner here. Rays came in afternoon, brought a chicken and I roasted it for supper. We rested awhile. I cleaned house. Helen washed her hair.
July 4th Wednesday
Albert went riding with Gib, then went to Rays awhile. I dusted and mopped kitchen, roasted a turkey, made salad, etc. Gene's, Mary and the folks came out and we all had dinner here. Men played ball and horseshoes and rode around. The women visited. Allen stayed overnight at Rays.
July 5th Thursday
Alberts left at 6:15 this morning. Gib mowed a little barley for hay. Allen rode to see the cattle. I didn't feel good, rested some. Rained about 7 P.M. 80/100 of an inch.
July 6th Friday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. I to Drs. Culley and Dion. Gib worked on Jack Rummels old pickup.
July 7th Saturday
Al went to Lewistown this morning. Gib raked some hay in afternoon, took baler over to Rays and brought rake home. Ray brought baler back and took rake. I rested and baked bread.
July 8th Sunday
I crocheted and hoed and cultivated the garden. Gib read and rested. We drove over south to see the cattle in the evening, saw a deer. some antelope (one dead), a coyote and shot a bob cat but didn't kill it.
July 9th Monday
Gib and Al found the bob cat and killed it. Baled hay in afternoon. Went to Swans in evening. I wrote 18 cards to Senators about Veterans bills for auxiliary and wrote to Ted in evening.
July 10th Tuesday - hot 98 degrees
I did big washing, dampened clothes. Men hauled in hay, drove out on range. Al fixed little pump engine.
July 11th Wednesday
I did all my ironing. Men hauled in a little hay and worked on the Graham plow. Al washed the cars.
July 12th Thursday
Al left at noon to go to Poplar and Glasgow. I painted faces on 20 tiny dolls and crocheted some.
July 13th Friday
We cultivated corn and drove over south to see cattle. Rays came for water. I gave Mildred a permanent in afternoon and we took her home in the evening. Alice, Dolly and Monte were there and we visited until almost 10 o' clock.
July 14th Saturday
I cleaned house and washed my hair and rested awhile. We went to a party in Roy for Dotson's.
July 15th Sunday
We went to church. Swan came and spent the afternoon, here for supper. Frank came.
July 16th Monday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. Al and Ted came home about 10 P. M.
July 17th Tuesday
Gib and Al changed off working summer fallow on the flat. Ted slept till 11 A.M. I baked cake and cookies and crocheted.
July 18th Wednesday
Men worked on Sharps. I gave Mrs. Myers permanent in P. M. Gib took me over. Mildred came while I was gone. Betty and some kids came out and she and the boys went to shivarie for Glen Rindal. Then Al took Ted on to Lewistown.
July 19th Thursday
Gib worked on Sharps till Al got up, then Al finished up south by dam. Gib took a load of wheat to town in P. M. Al came home in Gene's car.
July 20th Friday
Al and Ted left to go to Great falls and Glasgow to fix Ted's car. I took everything out of the pantry and painted it. Gib drove over south to see the cattle.
July 21st Saturday
We put linoleum in the pantry floor and put things back on the shelves. Rays came for water. Don Kalina stopped.
July 22nd Sunday
Mildred came over and asked us over for dinner. We spent the day there, Swan came and we all drove over through Spiroffs and Clarks around by Valentine.
July 23rd Monday
I fixed and painted pantry door, painted high chair and step stool and varnished table tops, cleaned little chicken house. Gib worked on summer fallow north after 6:30 P. M.
July 24th Tuesday
I painted some red on high chair. Gib finished summer fallow. Al moved some alfalfa in evening.
July 25th Wednesday
My birthday. Ted made me a magazine rack. I washed. Gib and Al worked on combine, drove out on range at noon, then raked and hauled in hay in evening. Ted went to Roy in evening.
July 26th Thursday
Gib and Al rode out to round up our cattle, found 30 head and put them in holding pasture. I ironed.
July 27th Friday
I cut Al's and Ted's hair, fixed crocheted stuff to send to Mrs Murphy for the fair. It rained. Gib and Al worked on combine a little.
July 28th Saturday
Al and Ted went to Lewistown in Ted's car about 9:30 A. M. Gib and I both rested awhile. Peoples and Rays came in afternoon.
July 29th Sunday
Rain early morning. Al and Gib drove cattle out of holding pasture and took them north on range. I crocheted, made a pot holder and fixed Ted's jacket. Boys polished Ted's car. Harold and Monte came in evening.
July 30th Monday
Ted and Betty went to Billings. Ted to look for work. Gib and I went to Lewistown.
July 31st Tuesday
Gib and Al worked on combine. I rested awhile, baked a few things, cultivated the garden in the evening. Dean Walrod stopped and took Allen to Roy with him.
AUGUST 1956
August 1st Wednesday
The men cleaned the chicken house and cleaned the granary on Ackerlys. Allen went to Lewistown in the afternoon to see car stunts at Fair grounds. I baked two cakes and cookies. Froze some.
August 2nd Thursday
Al took a load of wheat to Roy, then they combined the barley up south. I washed car windows, mopped kitchen, washed my hair. Ted came home.
August 3rd Friday
Gib and I went to the Fair and took the folks along. The boys stayed home.
August 4th Saturday
Harold, Monte, and Ray helped brand 11 calves. Then Al and Ted went to the fair. We rested.
August 5th Sunday
Gib and Al combined wheat north of dam in afternoon. Ted slept till 1:30. I read and crocheted.
August 6th Monday
Gib went to Kalinas, then he and Al cut wheat on Ackerlys. I washed and baked. Ted set a post by chicken house, washed our car and cleaned his.
August 7th Tuesday - wet and showery
Gib and Ted went to Roy for fuel. Al rode over south to see cattle. I ironed. Joe Kosirs came.
August 8th Wednesday
Bob Cimrhakl stopped awhile. Gib and Al combined on Ackerlys. Betty and Jean Lettengarver came out. Ted left for Lewistown. I ironed, patched shirts, crocheted, hoed yard.
August 9th Thursday
Men finished combining on Ackerly's and started on Sharps. I made ice box cookies, doughnuts and ginger cake. I drove over to Mildreds, but she was gone. Washed light shades. Waxed floors.
August 10th Friday
Men combined on Sharps. We went to Lewistown in evening. Gib went to Fish Fry. Ted took Maxine and I to the play at the Fair grounds.
August 11th Saturday
Men finished combining. I washed windows, cleaned house. Al went to town.
August 12th Sunday
I washed windows inside. Mildred came and gave me a permanent in P. M. Gib put the combine in the fence at Rays.
August 13th Monday
Al raked straw and mowed the yard, hauled water. I washed, baked and ironed.
August 14th Tuesday
Men baled straw on Ackerlys and Sharps, I washed my hair and set it. Went to Myers, baked pies and bread. Put up curtains.
August 15th Wednesday
We all went to Lewistown to see Bob's and Harold. Had a picnic at the park with Ann's and Helen's and Ted and Pearl and Alton's and Mrs. Korwald.
August 16th Thursday
Bob's came out here afternoon. I picked corn for supper. Rays came and Bob showed pictures in evening.
August 17th Friday
We visited. Harold came at noon. Bob's, Harold and I drove over to see our old home, but the road was too muddy to go all the way. Bob's went back to Lewistown. Harold stayed all night.
August 18th Saturday
Harold left after dinner. Gib and Al drove over south to see cattle, put them in on Ralphs. Al went to Lewistown. I rested and slept awhile. Gib and I went to Mikes in the evening.

We went to church. Ted came home for awhile. Frank S and Don Kalina stopped in and Jerry Sirokys came.
August 20th Monday
Gib, I and Al went to Lewistown. Al went to Dr. Culley. We saw Maxine and Ted, then went to see the folks, Bob's and Harold.
August 21st Tuesday
I washed and ironed a few things. Rested some. Al laid around and washed his car. Gib worked on summer fallow, finished Sharps and on west flat.
August 22nd Wednesday
Al went to the Doctor again. Gib finished north piece of summer fallow. I baked buns and two cakes, crocheted some. Don Myers came, then Agusta for water, then Rays, Doc Sharp to see calves and Don Harvey brought grain loader down. I wrote to Helen.
August 23rd Thursday
Gib and Al and hauled straw from Sharps and north field. I crocheted. Don Myers got water here and saw a moose. We drove over to Rays to see if we could see it, but it had gone on east.
August 24th Friday
Gib and Al hauled straw from Ackerlys. I baked bread, swept, and dusted. Al went to Dr. Culley again in P.M.
August 25th Saturday
Al mowed and Gib raked some of the stubble down on Sharps. I rested and read awhile.
August 26th Sunday
Al went to Lewistown to Eugene Heils wedding. Gib and I went to Baumans and Southworths, but no one was home, so drove out on range. Frank came over to get Al to help.
August 27th Monday - Rained.
We didn't do very much. I crocheted and read and mopped kitchen. Frank and the boys came over again. I made a dress.
August 28th Tuesday
The men worked in garage till noon, then rode out on the range to put 31 cows and calves in holding pasture and helped Mike and Don take some cattle home. I finished my dress and cut out a coat for Sharon.
August 29th Wednesday
Gib brought Franks truck back when he took the saddle horse out on the range where Al helped him bring some cattle home. Then Gib went to Roy in P.M. I washed and ironed some. Mildred came.
August 30th Thursday
Al came home from Franks about 9:30 in the rain. Then he went in to Dr. Culley in afternoon. I sewed up a coat for Sharon and made her a shirt and finished the ironing.
August 31st Friday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. I to Dr. Culley. We went to Maxines. Did our trading, then had supper with the folks on Dads 80th birthday.
SEPTEMBER 1956
Sept 1st Saturday
Gib and Al rode out on range and brought some of our cows and calves in. I cleaned house and read awhile.
Sept 2nd Sunday
We all went to church, then the men raked and baled the straw on Sharps. I baked cake and cookies, cut out lining for Sharon's coat and started a letter to Aunt Edith. Rays went to Billings today. Ted came home.
Sept 3rd Monday
The men rode to find more cattle. I baked bread and worked on Sharon's coat. Ted worked on his car and went back to town about 6 P.M. Gib and I did Rays chores.
Sept 4th Tuesday
The men rode again. Put some more cows in holding pasture. I finished Sharons's coat and shirt. Al and I did Rays chores. Don Kalina stopped on way home from Conollys.
Sept 5th Wednesday
The men brought our cows home all here but three now. I got ready to go to Glasgow. Al did Rays chores.
Sept 6th Thursday
Gib and I went to Lewistown, then on to Great Falls, where I went to the Clinic for Eczema treatment, then we stayed at the Don Plaza Motel overnight.
Sept 7th Friday
We left for Glasgow at 15 to 7 A.M., had breakfast at a little corner cafe near Fort Benton, dinner at Malta, got to Glasgow at 2:10. We all went to the fair there in the afternoon.

Dick took us to Fort Peck dam and through the power plant and the town.
Sept 9th Sunday
Sunday afternoon, Dick too us to see the airport and we drove around and visited. Went to a show in the evening.

We left Glasgow at 7:30, had dinner at Jordan and got home at 3:20. Bob Cimrhakl was here and took Allen for a ride. Rays came home about 4:30.
Sept 11th Tuesday
I cooked some plums and apples that Mildred gave us. Gib and Al put the cows up south on alfalfa and took wheat out of canvas bin on Sharps and put in a pile to dry. Al took a load to town in forenoon. We went to legion meeting, Rays rode with us.
Sept 12th Wednesday
I didn't do much, baked bread and washed out a few clothes. Men cleaned up the wheat on Sharps. Al helped Don finish combining Mikes wheat.
Sept 13th Thursday
I ironed, swept the house. Gib and Al went to Baumans for a canvas, Al and Monte went hunting. Gib and I went to Baumans in evening. Ted had been home.
Sept 14th Friday
Gib and I went to Lewistown in the car. Al took the pickup and got winter seed wheat at H.K Mosbys, we all had dinner and supper with Gene and Maxine. Talked with Ted about college.

Gib went to Baumans to bring home a deer. I wrapped meat all afternoon. Al sick in bed with a cold. Gib helped shingle the school house all day. Ted came home in the night.

The men rode to find more cattle only found 1 cow and calf. I washed windows and cleaned house.

The men fixed fence between Ackerlys and Sharps and Kalals. I baked 2 angel food cakes and buns. Mildred came and brought a boiled chicken and we made sandwich spread.

Got ready for fellowship meeting tonight. Boys went to Lewistown to see the Grand Ole Opery.

I ironed some, baked cookies. Ted went to football game. Mickey Styers trailer broke down and Gib took her to Roy to see if they could gets some burrs. She and Joe Finn were here for supper. There were 9 people came in the evening.

Men hauled water. Ted went to Lewistown to look for work. Al went in afternoon. Gib helped Styers fix wheel. I ironed.

Ted slept most of the day, then went to Lewistown so he could be in town early to see about a job. We went to see McLaughlins in afternoon. Al got home at 10 P. M.

The men hauled wheat to town from Sharps, I canned some peaches, apples and tomato jam.

Al hauled some wheat from Ackerlys. I canned some apples, dusted and crocheted.

The men took Harvey's grain loader home. I washed by hand.
Sept 27th Thursday
Gib and I went to Great Falls to the Clinic for eczema treatment. Got back to Lewistown about 1:30. I took treatment from Dr culley. We visited at Gene's, then took the folks to a show and stayed with them over night.
Sept 28th Friday
We got our groceries, did a little trading. I stayed with Maxine awhile, then we drove out to the Miller stock yards and then went home. Swan was here for supper.
Sept 29th Saturday
Ted came home about 2 A.M. Gib and Al sawed some wood. Al went to Lewistown about 5 P.M. Gib did Franks chores. Rays came in morning. Ted put in some new switches for Mildred. I bake bread, 2 pies, and cookies.
Sept 30th Sunday
Betty and Connie Curts came out about noon to tell Ted he had a phone call from the Sizmagraph crew about a job. They were here for dinner. Ted left about 5. We went to party for Mrs. Myers. Did Franks chores.
OCTOBER 1956
Oct 1st Monday
The men sawed some wood for kindling, hauled and dumped ashes. I worked on auxiliary business. Betty and some girls came out to sell school paper.
Oct 2nd Tuesday
Gib and Al went to Lewistown to work on Jack Rummals pickup, got home about 2:30. Mildred came over and I went to help Ray load some cattle. Then we drove over to see Agusta. I did some sewing, worked button holes.
Oct 3rd Wednesday
I washed. The man fixed fence between us and Mikes.
Oct 4th Thursday
Al helped Frank haul oil cakes all day. Gib worked around home. I helped Mrs. Myers paint in P.M.
Oct 5th Friday
Gib and Al put stock rack on Swans truck and Gib and Swan hauled Harry Mc Laughlins calves. Al went to Roy after dinner to take a load of girls to game at Winifred. I painted Stella's dining room in afternoon and did my ironing in the morning.

Don came. Rays came I trimmed Mildreds hair, swept, and dusted. Washed my hair, patched some. Men fixed some fence on Richards.
Oct 7th Sunday
Rays, Stella, and Agusta went with us to the Legion convention at Stanford. Al went to Roy, Ted, Betty and Port Wood came out to get some pans, dishes, and bedding.
Oct 8th Monday
I baked cake and cookies. Gib and Ray got folding chairs from the Kachia School and we washed and fixed them to take to Roy for convention. Al rode and found one cow and calf, put them in holding pasture.

Rays went to funeral for Frank Stepans sister. I baked bread, pie and cookies. Got stuff ready to take to pot luck supper at Legion tonight. We took Charlotte to Roy with us. Al went to Baumans

Gib and I went to Lewistown. Al hauled wheat, went to Baumans at night.

Al rode with Baumans to find cattle. Gib chicked house windows. I worked on Auxiliary business all forenoon, then Mildred and I helped Stella paint all afternoon.

We killed four hens and a rooster and I froze them. Patched, crocheted. Gib went to Roy. Ray came for water.

Gib and I cleaned out Bob's shack and put sprinkler heads in granary. Then Mike came and I went to help paint in P.M. Al got home about 6:30, cleaned up and went to town. Gib cleaned chicken house.

I dusted. We went to church with Rays. I worked on auxiliary stuff and wrote a letter in afternoon. Frank and his man came in evening.
Oct 22nd Monday
Al got home about 4 o clock this morning. Frank came after him at 6:30 to help get his steers in corral. Gib and I killed 9 hens and the rooster and I canned 4 quarts and froze 1 hen.

Al helped Frank all day. I washed and ironed, mostly Ted's clothes.
Oct 24th Wednesday
Gib and I went to Lewistown. Both went to Dr. Culley. Al helped Frank in morning.

Gib and Al went hunting down east. Nick came to get Al to ride. Vernon came to borrow canner. Cliff Marsh brought a man out to rent our house or see about it. I baked bread and cookies, worked on auxiliary stuff. Al took Paint down to Spiroffs and stayed there. I wrote to Margie.
Oct 26th Friday - cold 36 degrees
I helped Gib haul water, washed my hair, decorated cookies and packed a box for the grand children. We are going to the church to see a movie tonight.

Gib and I worked on the chicken house most of the day. Then I put storm windows on. Vernon brought canner home. Al came home and went to Lewistown.

Al rode for Spiroffs again today. I worked on auxiliary stuff and wrote to Margie.

Gib and Al went to Roy in the pickup and cleaned our house and hauled the furniture home. Sold our steers to a cattle buyer.

Gib and I went to Lewistown. I spent the afternoon at Ann's. Had supper there, then saw Ted, Gene's and came home about 10:30. Al went in to Lewistown to see the Grand Ole Oprey.
NOVEMBER 1956
Nov 1st Thursday
The men brought the cattle home from over south as the water is too low. I washed. Dorothy Kalina came. The men tried to clean some mud out of dam.
Nov 2nd Friday
I hung out the rest of the clothes to dry. Gave Mrs Myers a permanent in afternoon. Harry Wright brought fuel. Gib and Mike went to grazing meeting. I dusted.
Nov 3rd Saturday - Light snow - cold 25 degrees
Gib and Al went to Roy to fix the chimney on our house, then helped Ray get his calves in corral in afternoon. I baked cake and cookies. We cut up half a hog we got from Monte.
Nov 4th Sunday
Don Myers and Monte hauled our steer calves (27) to Roy. Ray took his in. Mildred gave me a permanent. Ted came home early morning, left about 5 P.M. Al went to Roy too.

Gib and Al went to Lewistown. I wrapped and froze most of the pork. Did some chores.
Nov 6th Tuesday
The men got some cows and a bull in to sell. We went to vote, then Don Myers hauled our cattle to Lewistown. Al went along. I ironed, typed some auxiliary stuff. I cut Al's hair.
Nov 7th Wednesday
The men went hunting in late afternoon, Al got a deer down north east of Olie's. Olie stopped in here to see Al. I finished two aprons for Vet's gift shop. I wrapped and froze pork.
Nov 8th Thursday
Rays came. I helped Gib put paper on north wall in chicken house, then went to Mildreds to get meat grinder. Agusta came and we worked on auxiliary business. Then I ground pork and deer for hamburger.
Nov 9th Friday
Gib killed two hens and I cleaned and boiled them. I baked two cakes and dusted the house. Cut Gib's hair, helped him put cattle over north. Froze hamburger. Johnny Maruska and Merle Heil came for Farmers Union dues.
Nov 10th Saturday
I made sandwiches. We put the cattle in north pasture. We went to dance in Roy. Al came from riding and cleaned up and went to dance in Flat Willow with Baumans.
Nov 11th Sunday
Al rode all day. We rested. I crocheted and did huck weaving. I typed auxiliary work. We took the cattle to Rays east dam.
Nov 12th Monday
Al got home about 10:30, then drove to Baumans to get his clothes. He and Gib got a deer up the creek. I patched overalls, fixed Al's jacket and crocheted. Al went to Lewistown.
Nov 13th Tuesday
Gib helped Mikes load 2 loads of cattle. I sewed, crocheted, made sandwiches. Al came home. I went to Legion meeting with Rays, took Stella Myers and Dorothy Kalina along.
Nov 14th Wednesday
Gib and Al helped Mike load cattle, then had to help butcher a steer of Franks that broke it's leg. I sorted out patterns, crocheted a little, worked on auxiliary books. Al went to show in Roy.
Nov 15th Thursday
I looked through all my stamping patterns, etc. Started some doll clothes. Gib I, and Mildred went to Fellowship meeting at Mrs Harrells.
Nov 16th Friday
The men cleaned some mud on the east dam. I sewed and crocheted, wrote to Emily. Baked bread.
Nov 17th Saturday
I washed, but too windy to hang clothes outdoors. The men cleaned some more mud out of the dam. Al went to Lewistown in P.M. I mopped and dusted.
Nov 18th Sunday - cold, windy and snow at times 20 degrees
We didn't go to church. I hung clothes in the house to dry. Read and crocheted and cut out patters. Gib did chores and read and rested.

Gib and I went to Lewistown. I went to Dr. Olsen
Nov 20th Tuesday
Got ready to go to Thanksgiving dinner. Cleaned house. Al rode for Frank.
Nov 21st Wednesday
We all went to Mrs. Hellers for Thanksgiving dinner. Richard's were there too. We took the kids home with us.
Nov 22nd Thursday
Busy all day.
Nov 23rd Friday
Al helped Frank get calves in to wean. Dick and Margie came about midnight.
Nov 24th Saturday
Gib and Ray and Mike went to Frank Petersons funeral. Ted came home. Mildred came over. I baked.
Nov 25th Sunday
Dick's left about 3 P.M. I pressed and packed some of Ted's clothes. He left for Billings about 5 P.M. to go to school.
Nov 26th Monday
Al hauled a load of wheat to Roy and brought back coal. I baked bread, rolls, nut bread and 2 cakes. Mildred and Mrs. Bauman spent the afternoon. I crocheted in evening.
Nov 27th Tuesday
Men hauled wheat to town and brought back coal. Agusta came. Mildred came and we stamped and painted seven dish towels for Emily. I painted a dresser scarf and 2 pictures for the kids. Al went to Lewistown in evening to shop tomorrow and got his car fixed.
Nov 28th Wednesday
I washed, then we put plastic on 2 windows. Rehabilitation man came. Rays stopped on way from town. Max Webster came to see Allen.
Nov 29th Thursday
Max Webster came again to see if Al would take him to Idaho Falls. I ironed. Gib and I have colds. Mike brought a letter that was in his mail. Al came home in the night. Webster's came in evening for a few minutes.
Nov 30th Friday
I patched some overalls. Al helped me put plastic on two more windows. Calf buyer came. Harold Bauman came for saw. I put weather strips on middle west window. Al went to Roy to take a load of kids to Winifred. I crocheted on doily for Christmas.
DECEMBER 1956
Dec 1st Saturday - 56 degrees
Gib and Al worked the gardens. I cleaned house, baked two batches of cookies and three pies to send some back with Ted. Mrs Webster came to bring the barber outfit back and had Al pump up her tire. Ted went to Roy and Winifred.
Dec 2nd Sunday - 50 degrees
The boys slept late. Gib went to see Don Myers, Ray, Baumans and Ed Styer about hauling calves Monday. Gibs eyes are awfully sore. Ted helped Al bring the cattle home. I got Ted's stuff ready. He left about4:30 to go back to Billings to school. I wrote cards about Xmas party to auxiliary members.
Dec 3rd Monday - zero to 5 above
We put the calves out and Ed, Ray and Al hauled 35 of them to Roy. I crocheted and made doll clothes.
Dec 4th Tuesday - zero to 18 degrees below
Al took Gib and I to Lewistown. Gib went to Dr. Barelman for his sore eyes. We went to the hospital to see Ole Fuglestad and Alta Mae. Got home about 5:30.
Dec 5th Wednesday - 18 below to 30 below
Men watered the cattle, put the horse over on Ralphs. I crocheted.
Dec 6th Thursday - 34 below
Al took Gib to town in his car to see the doctor again about his eyes. I watered chickens, got the eggs, watered Spot, crocheted some. The new family down at Fugelstads came this evening. Jack Goodwins.
Dec 7th Friday
The men did chores, watered cattle. I sewed doll clothes, crocheted on Christmas presents. Mike came. Cut Al's hair. Gib's eyes getting better.
Dec 8th Saturday
Al went to town about noon. Ted came home sick from Billings before morning. I have sore throat.
Dec 9th Sunday
Ted sick in bed most of the day. I crocheted, finished doily. I have a sore throat, get hoarse. Al got home late.
Dec 10th Monday
I worked on Xmas presents, baked two cakes. Boys slept till nearly noon. Max Webster's came and stayed for supper. Cut Gib's hair.
Dec 11th Tuesday
Men watered cattle, took the calves away from the cows. I cut Ted's hair, pressed some clothes and doilys. It stormed so we didn't go to Legion meeting, but the boys went to basketball game in Roy.
Dec 12th Wednesday
Gib, Ted, and I went to Lewistown. Ted went to Drs. Culley and Le Tellier and Gib and I went to Dr. Barelman. We did some xmas shopping, had supper with folks.
Dec 13th Thursday
Men hauled water. I washed, baked Ted's birthday cake. Rays came for water. Men put plastic on chicken house windows.
Dec 14th Friday
Had Ted's cake for dinner. He went to Roy and a ball game at Winifred in evening. Gib and Al set posts and put fence around chicken house to put straw in to bank up. I wrote cards till midnight. Gib went to Kalina's to a church board meeting.
Dec 15th Saturday
Men filled around chicken house with straw. Ted left for Billings about 9 A.M. I cleaned house and wrapped and packed Richard's presents and wrote cards. Al went to town.
Dec 16th Sunday
I worked on Xmas presents. We went to church in evening. Ted was in Roy and had to go back to Billings to start work as the Kress store in the morning. It was snowing.
Dec 17th Monday
I wrote cards all day, crocheted at night. Al went to Lewistown to see about a job, but didn't get it and came home. I helped Gib water the cows. Mailed Dick's packages.
Dec 18th Tuesday
Gib and I went to Lewistown.
Dec 19th Wednesday
I made candy and baked cookies and wrapped a package for Harold, Bob's and a boy in Industrial school. Al went to Roy in P.M.
Dec 20th Thursday
I washed and dusted. Al sick with a cold. Gib did chores, watered cows. Rev. Dorsett here for dinner. Mailed packages.
Dec 21st Friday
Gib went to Roy to send a letter to Ted. I made candy, wrapped Maxine's and the folks packages. Al trimmed the tree. I dusted and mopped.
Dec 22nd Saturday
Al went to town this morning. I ironed and helped Gib water cows. We drove over to Rays in evening and we all went to Mikes as we heard he was sick. I made two fruit cakes.
Dec 23rd Sunday
I helped Gib water cows and worked Swedish weaving on scarf for Cora. Filled some boxes with candy for the folks. Max Webster came in P.M.
Dec 24th Monday
I made 4 pies, packed stuff to take to town tomorrow, practiced some music. Al slept late. We went to program at the church. The Webster's rode in with us. Ted got home about 12:30.
Dec 25th Tuesday
We let Ted sleep till nearly 11. Gib and Al did chores, we got ready to go to Gene's for Christmas dinner. Al and Ted each took their cars. Mike rode in with us to go to hospital, but couldn't get in so, had dinner with us and came home with us. Ted went on to Billings.
Dec 26th Wednesday
I washed. Men hauled water, ground feed.
Dec 27th Thursday
I cleaned house. Al worked on his car.
Dec 28th Friday
Gib and I went to Roy for income tax and groceries. Al did chores and worked on his car. I ironed. Harold and Grandma came.
Dec 29th Saturday
I cleaned house. Al went to town.
Dec 30th Sunday
Dick and Margie came out and left the kids and went back to Gene's. Vernon and Arlene came.
Dec 31st Monday
Took care of kids. Vernon brought hid kids down about 6:30 and we kept them while he and Arlene went to the New Years dance. Dick's came out and Al brought Don home with him. I cut Ronnie's hair.
