January 1951
Jan 1st Mon. -30+, snow & wind - Men put floor in feed granary. I made a pie & cookies. Al went to Roy in PM. Shut off refrigerator.
Jan 2nd Tues. -8+, clear - Gib & Gene went to Roy for income tax. I patched.
Jan 3rd Wed. - 12 to 2+, blowing snow - Men set posts at Ackerlys house. I cut out dress, green & checked & sewed it up.
Jan 4th Thurs. - 2 to 8+, light snow - Men hauled hay from Steinfadts. I embroidered & sewed. Brought cattle home.
Jan 5th Fri. - 8- to 8+, clearing, nice - Hauled barn out from town. Put cattle back on Ackerlys. I baked, washed & mopped.
Jan 6th Sat. - 8- to 20 +, lovely clear day - Men put up shelter on Ackerlys. I sewed a little. Rays came. Gene & Ray S. went to Lewistown.
Jan 7th Sun.-8 to 30+, very nice - I baked a cake. We all went to church at 4 PM. Al went to Spiroffs. Boys hunted rabbits.
Jan 8th Mon. - Nice - Gene took wheat to town in morning. Gib, Ted & I went to Lewistown at noon. Went to show & stayed overnight. Hunted rabbits.
Jan 9th Tues. - Nice, cooler - We came home in PM. Gene worked on Don's truck. Gib & I went to Legion. Hunted rabbits at night.
Jan 10th Wed. - 28+, nice - Gib took wheat in. I washed. Gene worked on Don's truck & they went to Lewistown.
Jan 11th Thurs. - 30+, nice - Gene went to Don's. I hung out clothes & mopped. Gib sick.
Jan 12th Fri. - 32+, nice - Gene helped Don. Mildred stayed here while Ray went to Roy. I washed windows, clothes & ironed. Al came.
Jan 13th Sat. - 34+, nice - Dick & Margie came at noon. Gene went to Lewistown at 9:30. Gib & Al did chores & worked on hayrack. Al went to dance with Ray & Don's.
Jan 14th Sun. - 36+, lovely - I dusted, baked pies & cookies. Dick & Margie went to Rays, then left at 3:30.
Jan 15th Mon. - 42+, cloudy & clear - Gene finished Don's truck. They hunted rabbits at night. Gib & I went to Rays. I baked bread & cakes.
Jan 16th Tues. - 34+, strong wind - I washed. Men ground feed. Gene went to Winnett with Monte to take rabbits. Don & Margaret brought gun.
Jan 17th Wed. - 45+, thaw, strong wind - I sewed some. Rays came for water. Harold B came. Watered cows at Rolfs. Gene & Don went hunting. Margaret here.
Jan 18th Thurs. -30 +, colder - Rays helped butcher two hogs. Don came. Alice & Dolly stopped. I ironed.
Jan 19th Fri. - Light frost falling - Gene & Gib hauled hay from Steinfadts. Gib cut up meat. Al came home early. Don & boys went hunting.
Jan 20th Sat.- 8 - to 45 +, nice - Gib cut up meat. I rendered lard. Gene went to Lewistown. Al went to dance at Fergus.
Jan 21st Sun. - 20 to 45 to 30 +, chinook at times- Joe & Ida came. I rendered lard.
Jan 22ndMon. - 40 +, cool, windy - I washed, baked bread & canned seven quarts of pork.
Jan 23rd Tues. - Cool - Gib, Ted & I went to Lewistown. Brought Kenny home (Alton's son). Gene put up snow fence.
Jan 24th Wed. - 30+, cool - Canned fourteen quarts of pork. Don & Margaret came. Stayed for supper.
Jan 25th Thurs. - 20+, light snow - Gene went to Roy & to Dons. Got Don's light plant. Rays came. I mopped floor. Gave Kenny a bath.
Jan 26th Fri. - 20+, cold & stormy - Wrapped two hams & rendered lard. Brought cows home. Al came home at 10:30.
Jan 27th Sat. - 25 to 16-, cold wind - Canned soup.
Jan 28th Sun. - 27 to 12-, cold & windy - Boys worked in garage. I baked a pie & cookies. Al went to Roy.
Jan 29th Mon. - Cold & windy - I washed Kenny's clothes. Gib & Gene sick. Gene worked in garage. Gave Kenny a bath.
Jan 30th Tues. - Zero to 10+ nice - Don came in afternoon & helped Gene. I crocheted some & patched.
Jan 31st Wed. - 12- to 10+, cold - I washed. Don H. came. Mike came. Rays came. Dad & Alton came & got Kenny. Ted sick with stomach flu. Missed school.
February 1951
Feb 1st Thurs. - 14- to 25+, clear - Ted sick with stomach flu. Missed school. Men went to Rays. I mopped & dusted. Gene went to Roy & got hair cut. Alice & Monte came. Gene & Don went hunting.
Feb 2nd Fri. - 2 to 43+, hazy & windy - Gene sanded on his car. Ray Spiroff came. I crocheted on white tam. Al came home. Gib has had a lame back for three days.
Feb 3rd Sat. - 42+, nice - Gib & Al bedded down the barns & hauled hay. Gene went to Lewistown. I swept & dusted. Crocheted at night. Al went to dance at Roy.
Feb 4th Sun. - 36+ then colder, saw a robin - Boys worked on cars. I baked cakes. Gene went hunting rabbits.
Feb 5th Mon. - 12-, light snow - Ground feed. Rays came. Frank Southworth came. Finished tam. Don & Ray came. Boys hunted.
Feb 6th Tues. - 8- to zero, light snow-Ground feed for Baumans. I fixed Gene's aviator jacket. Gene went hunting. Alta & Alton have a new baby boy.
Feb 7th Wed. - Nicer, sleet - We took Ted to the Doctor in Ray's car. Al came home to see how Ted was. Gib took Ray's car home & they brought him back.
Feb 8th Thurs. - 26+, warmer - Gib sprouted spuds. We ground meat. I mopped floor. Gene put under coat on car. Mikes came.
Feb 9th Fri. - 54+, chinook - Gene painted his Olds. He & Don took rabbits to Winnett. I washed. Gib fixed feed trough. I wrote to Dicks.
Feb 10th Sat. - 64 to 20+, cold with light snow at night - Gene drove Al's car to Lewistown. Sterling Jackson came. Rays stopped on way to Roy. Al helped Dad. I baked bread & cookies.
Feb 11th Sun. - 12+, cold, light snow - Al wrote letters & helped Dad. Gene got home at 7 AM. I dusted & baked pies.
Feb 12th Mon. - 14+, cold, cleared up nice - Al went to school. Men hauled hay from Steinfadts. I cut out brown cord dress, two aprons & a slip.
Feb 13th Tues. - 30+, nice & bright - Gene finished Olds. Hauled hay. I cooked chicken & noodles & ground meat. Gene went to Roy for gas. Rays & us went to Legion meeting.
Feb 14th Wed. - 41+, lovely day - I washed, waxed floor. Men fixed fences around stacks.
Feb 15th Thurs. - 50+, very nice - Don brought pickup down for Gene to fix. I sewed up dress. Men put cattle up the creek south. Gene went to Roy.
Feb 16th Fri. - 38+, nice, wind - Don & Margaret came. Came about pickup. Sterling Jackson brought his coupe over. I crocheted, sewed on dress & made a cake & cookies.
Feb 17th Sat. - 38+, nice - Gene went to Lewistown for car repairs. Mrs. Myers came. I gave her a permanent. Dick & Margie came. Rays came. Ray Spiroff came. Kids went to dance.
Feb 18th Sun. - 41+, nice - Mrs. Myers came to get her hair combed. The kids left. Gene went to show in Lewistown with Dons.
Feb 19th Mon. - 40+, nice - I washed bedding. Gene, Sterling & Don went to get a calf. Gib ground feed.
Feb 20th Tues. - 43+, nice - Gene pulled Sterling's car to Roy in PM & worked till night. I made a slip & crocheted some.
Feb 21st Wed. - 32+, snowed all day - Men hauled hay from Steinfadts. Gene went to Roy & took Sterling along to work on car. I ironed. Cattle came in. Gene had a wreck.
Feb 22nd Thurs. - 32+, light snow - Gene & Don brought car home. I sewed on apron.
Feb 23rd Fri. - 32+, fog then nice - Gene & Don worked on Don's pickup. Melvin stopped. Sterling took his car home. Al & Danny came.
Feb 24th Sat. - 34+, very nice - Gene went to Lewistown with Don. Gib & Al fixed fence around stacks. Al, Ted, & Danny went to Kosirs. Al's car axle broke.
Feb 25th Sun. - 32+, nice - Ray, Don & Margaret came, didn't come in. Rays came & had supper & played Canasta. Baked cookies & made jam.
Feb 26th Mon. - Cold, light snow falling - Gene took Al, Danny & Ted to school. Don & Gene worked on his pickup. I darned stockings & painted chair set.
Feb 27th Tues. - 26+, light snow all day - Gene & Ray Spiroff went to Billings to get car body. I crocheted, patched some & baked bread. Ted home with tooth ache.
Feb 28th Wed. - 2+, nice, clearing - Gib took Ted to school. Gene got a 1941 Oldsmobile in Billings.
March 1951
Mar 1st Thurs. - 8+ to 28+, nice - Gene came home with another Olds. Spiroffs came to see where Ray was. Rays came. I crocheted. Gene & Don worked on pickup.
Mar 2nd Fri. -25+, colder - Gene & Don finished pickup. Put wrecked Olds in garage. Gib went to town & got Al. I washed some.
Mar 3rd Sat. - 36+, nicer - Boys cleaned west barn. I baked & ironed a little. Boys went to Lewistown.
Mar 4th Sun. - Nice - I baked pies & cookies. Gene took Al to Roy.
Mar 5th Mon. - 17-, blizzard - Gene took Olds body apart. I patched & worked on dress. Ted stayed home.
Mar 6th Tues. - 22 to 8-, cold & clearing - I crocheted on scarf for Eileen. Baked buns & rolls. Gene worked on Olds body. Ted home.
Mar 7th Wed. - 16-, cold & windy, light snow - I finished scarf for Eileen & started green scarf. Men pulled red Olds out of garage & put new one in. Watered cattle at well. Ted home.
Mar 8th Thurs. - 26- up to zero, cold & clear, S.E. wind - I baked bread, cookies & mopped. Gene worked on Olds. Ted went to school.
Mar 9th Fri. - 12- up to zero, snow in PM, cold N.W. wind - Don came. Gene worked on new Olds. Went to town for Al. I put lining in Gene's cap.
Mar 10th Sat. - 18- at 10 o'clock, clear - I washed & mopped. Boys put old Olds motor in new Olds. Ted went to school.
Mar 11th Sun. - 20- to 14+, nice - Boys worked on car. Rays came. Mildred cut my hair. I made a cake.
Mar 12th Mon. - Nice - Gib & Gene took Al to town & brought out one ton oil cake. I baked bread. Gib took in a load of wheat. I wrote to Dick & Margie.
Mar 13th Tues. -18 to 40+, thawing - Gib took a load of wheat to town. Gene worked on Olds. I fixed seat covers & ironed.
Mar 14th Wed. - 22 to 40+, lovely - Gene & Ted took Sterling's calf to Lewistown. Ted had treatment. I ironed.
Mar 15th Thurs. - 45+, windy, thaw, rain in PM - Gib & I went to Lewistown. Gene finished Don's truck & worked on Al's car. Mother (Gib's mother) broke her hip.
Mar 16th Fri. - Cold, strong wind, blizzard by spells - Gib ground feed. Gene worked on Ford & Olds. I baked bread & made doughnuts. White cross man came. Gene got Al.
Mar 17th Sat. -Windy & cold, snow flurries - Gene went to Lewistown & stayed all night. Al changed tires on his car. Dick & Margie came about 4.
Mar 18th Sun. - 6 to 21+, nice & clear - Dick, Margie, Ted & I went to Rays. Gene came home about 1:30. Dick & Margie left about 3. Spiroff's house burned down.
Mar 19th Mon. - 12 to 24+, light snow - Mildred gave me a permanent. We made doughnuts. Men hauled straw. Gene painted some on car.
Mar 20th Tues. - 40+, nice - I washed. Rays brought a letter from Emily saying Mother broke her hip on Thursday. Gene went to Roy.
Mar 21st Wed. - 60+, thaw - Gib & I went to Lewistown for head gate.
Mar 22nd Thurs. - Thaw - I swept, mopped & washed windows. Men fixed pump on tractor. Al came home. Gib & I took Mae's letter to Rays.
Mar 23rd Fri. - 41+, nice - I ironed. Got telegram mother is worse. Ray & Gib went to Lewistown to phone. Al hauled barley into other granary.
Mar 24th Sat. - 47 +, nice - Al & Gib cleaned barns. I baked a cake & a pie. Gene came home about 8 o'clock. 2 calves.
Mar 25th Sun. - 58 +, beautiful day - I gave Mildred a permanent. We all went to Spiroffs in evening.
Mar 26th Mon. - 47+, cooler & windy - I did big washing. Rays, Alice, & Monte went to Lewistown. Stopped on way home. Gib & Gene pumped water into north dam. 2 calves.
Mar 27th Tues. - 46+, cool & windy - Allen brought out telegram that Mother died. Gene told Ray & Ray came over. Gene hauled two loads of wheat. Gib & Ray went to Roy to phone to Emily. Ted's hamsters came. 2 calves, 6 in all.
Mar 28th Wed. -3+, cool & clear - Gene cleaned barn & helped Baumans dehorn. I baked bread & cake. Cleaned Al's bedroom.
Mar 29th Thurs. - Nice - Gib, Ted & I went to Lewistown. I went to Dr. Dion. Gib went to sale. We had supper at Alta's. Dad & Cora sick.
Mar 30th Fri. -Nice - I put bottom on davenport & shelf in Ted's closet. Mr. Harvey & Don came. Don & Margaret came at night & Gene & Al went to Roy with them.
Mar 31st Sat. - 50+, cool E. wind - Baumans & Ray helped dehorn heifers. I washed & ironed. Danny came out. We went to play at Roy with Rays. Gib stayed home. Gene went to Lewistown.
April 1951
April 1st Sun. - 15 to 48+, very nice - I baked a cake & cookies. Swept & dusted. Gene came home at noon. Al painted parts of his car. We went to church. 1 calf. 9 in all. 2 calves.
April 2nd Mon. - 57+, very nice - Mildred helped me bake, iron & wash windows. Gene took wheat to town to clean. Gib used spring tooth on N. field. 1 calf. 12 in all.
April 3rd Tues. - I had operation on my legs. Gene helped Frank Southworth spray. Twin calves.
April 4th Wed. - Gib spring toothed north fields. Gene helped Frank.
April 5th Thurs. - Sowed wheat north. Allen came home sick.
April 6th Fri. - Allen sick.
April 7th Sat. - Gene went to Lewistown to get tooth filled.
April 8th Sun. - Nice - Gene & I came home at noon. Ted went fishing with Rays. 20 calves.
April 9th Mon. - 44+, cool - Gib took wheat in to clean. Dick & Margie came. Gene worked flat. Baked a cake. 1 calf.
April 10th Tues. - Cold, hail & snow showers - Dick & Margie left. I sewed curtains. Too cold to work. Gene & Don worked on motor.
April 11th Wed. - 44+, nice, cool N.E. wind - Mildred helped wash. Gene sowed wheat on flat. Gib used spring tooth on Sharps. 26 calves.
April 12th Thurs. - 66+, nice - Gene finished sowing flat & worked on Sharps in PM. Gib harrowed on Sharps. I washed windows & ironed. 1 calf.
April 13th Fri. - 42+, cool & windy - Gib, Ted & I went to Lewistown. Gene finished wheat on Sharps. Al came home. 107 chicks. 6 calves, 37 in all
April 14th Sat.-32+, cold & windy, snow flurries-Gene went to Lewistown. Rev. Shumaker came. We put chicks out. 1 calf. 38 in all.
April 15th Sun. - 36+, nice, cool - Myers, Pucketts, Rays, Monte & Ray S. came. I crocheted on baby sweater.
April 16th Mon. - 66+, warm, nice - Gib went to meeting in Roy & Lewistown. Gene duck footed on hill. I worked with chicks & swept house. 3 calves, 43 total.
April 17th Tues. - 56 to 32+ - cloudy, rain & wet snow - I washed. Nurse came. Gene helped Baumans thresh wheat stack. Gib worked gardens & alfalfa ground.
April 18th Wed. - 42 to 8+, blizzard - I cleaned & scrubbed. Ground feed for Monte. Brought cows & calves home from Richards. Frank came for meeting.
April 19th Thurs. - 8 to 26 to 22+, cold N.W. wind - I baked bread & made cookies. Hemmed dress. Gene worked on Don's motor.
April 20th Fri. - 32+, cold clearing, snow - Took cattle back to Richards place. Gene took Chevy motor to Lewistown. I ironed. 50 calves.
April 21st Sat. - Nice - We went to banquet & prom. Dick & Margie came. Twin calves.
April 22nd Sun. - Nice & mild - Kids got up at noon. Rays came Dick & Margie left about 3. Susie.
April 23rd Mon. - Fair, windy - Gib, I, & Mike went to Arch Johnson's funeral. Gene worked on pickup spring in Roy.
April 24th Tues. - Nice, S.E. wind - I washed, fixed chicken feed crate. Gene went to Dr. Pedersen in PM. We went to Rays in PM.
April 25th Wed. - 66+, S wind - Men worked dikes down in alfalfa. Gene worked on Ackerlys. Gib raked straw bunches on hill. I baked & worked flower beds.
April 26th Thurs. - 72+, warm - Gib raked on hill. Gene sowed wheat on hill. I planted flowers & started refrigerator.
April 27th Fri. - 70+, warm. Gene finished wheat & sowed barley on Ackerlys. Gib took barley to town to treat. I mopped & Patched. Al came home. 57 calves.
April 28th Sat. -80+, warm - Mildred & Ted helped paper our bedroom. Men started to spray alfalfa. Al went to Winnett Prom. Gene to Lewistown.
April 29th Sun. - 80+, warm, Sprinkled - Mrs. Myers came. Dotsons came. Swan came. I baked cookies & a pie. Al, Ted, & Dan to show.
April 30th Mon. - 58+, rain, sprinkled - Gib went to Roy in PM. I washed bedroom.

May 1951
May 1st Tues. -54+, showers, 4 inches - Gene worked on Don's motor. Gib ground feed. I ironed. Set four hens.
May 2nd Wed. - 55+, windy, cool - Sprinkled alfalfa. I baked. Gib & I went to Rays at night.
May 3rd Thurs. - 60+, nice, clear - I washed. Finished sprinkling east alfalfa field. Set out 24 tomatoes in cans.
May 4th Fri. - 64 +, fair, nice - Worked alfalfa strips. Gene planted spuds. I varnished bedroom, living room & window casings. Cut & sprouted spuds. Washed windows & put up screens. Al came home.
May 5th Sat. - 70+, nice, winds - Gib planted alfalfa strips. Boys fenced till noon. Gene went to Lewistown. I washed some windows, washed plastic drapes, ironed some, made cookies & made a cake. Mildred here. Al went to Valentine.
May 6th Sun. - Nice - Ted & Ray went fishing till noon. I made ice cream & roasted a rooster. Rays & Swan came. Boys & I went to church. Danny came out with us.
May 7th Mon. - Windy - Gib went to Roy for fuel. I baked, ironed & washed windows. Gene helped Baumans brand.
May 8th Tues. - 72+, nice - I washed. Men sprinkled.
May 9th Wed. - 76+, nice - Men sprinkled. G, Ted & I went to Lewistown. Ted to Dr. Pedersen. I went to Dion.
May 10th Thurs. - 78+, nice, warm - Men sprinkled. I made ice cream & ginger cookies. Painted oil stove. Gene took Ted to Scout meeting.
May 11th Fri. - 74+, warm - Sprinkled till 3. Gene went to Lewistown at 2. I papered hall by bedrooms. Myers came. Al came home.
May 12th Sat. - 72+, partly cloudy, strong wind PM, showers 4 inches - Boys sprinkled till 2:30. Gib & Ted went to Lewistown for lumber for hay rack. I baked bread & a cake. Danny came.
May 13th Sun. - 66 +, warm, rising wind - Boys finished sprinkling. Went fishing in PM. Gib, Gene & I went to Harveys in evening.
May 14th Mon. - 58+, cool, windy - Gene started to plow. He & Gib went to Roy at noon to get welding done. I planted garden & set out Hollyhocks.
May 15th Tues. - 64+, warmer - Gene plowed S.W. field. I finished garden. Gib went to R.E.A. meeting. We went to Rays.
May 16th Wed. - 76+, nice - I washed. Gene finished S.W. field & worked on Ackerlys. Men brought bailer. I hoed some, baked bread & cookies. Frank Southworth came.
May 17th Thurs. - 80+, warm - Gene helped Frank brand. Gib finished Ackerlys. I put plastic on kitchen floor, washed woodwork & chairs in living room. Gib took Ted to Scout meeting.
May 18th Fri. - 76+, sprinkled, strong wind - Gene worked on Sharps. I washed stove & kitchen. Gib worked on tract at noon. Had pain with heart.
May 19th Sat. - Gene finished Sharps & started at home on S.E. field. I cleaned house. Rays & Kosirs stopped. Gene went to Lewistown.
May 20th Sun. - 86+, nice - I dusted. We all went to Baccalaureate service in Roy.
May 21st Mon. - 86+, nice - Gib & I went to Lewistown. Stayed for show. Gene worked on car frame for trailer. 38 chicks.
May 22nd Tues. - 92+, hot, clear, then partly cloudy & strong wind - Brand calves at Rays. I washed.
May 23rd Wed. - 92+, hot, bad wind in PM - Branded our calves. Put 56 cows & 54 calves on range. Mikes came.
May 24th Thurs. -Bad wind, cool - I waxed living room floor. Dick & Margie came. We all went to Graduation. Ted stayed with Danny to go to Scout camp.
May 25th Fri. - Bad wind, cool - Boys worked on Dick's car all day. I ironed & baked a cake. Went to Rays in evening.
May 26th Sat. - 66+, windy - Gib, Gene & Dick laid out pipe, fixed fence, then sprinkled. Gene went to Lewistown. Dick, Al & Ray D. went fishing.
May 27th Sun. - Cool, windy - Boys sprinkled & fixed springs on sprinkler. Dick & Margie left. Dad & I went to Lewistown & brought Ted & Danny home from camp.
May 28th Mon. - Warm then bad wind, hail & rain - I washed. Too windy to dry clothes. Sprinkled till it got too windy. Al & the kids went fishing. Man came to buy royalty.
May 29th Tues. - 63+, cool & cloudy - Boys sprinkled east alfalfa. I hung clothes out to dry. Gib & I went to Rays in evening.
May 30th Wed. - 30+, rain - I made night gown, baked bread & a cake. Boys changed pipe & sprinkled some. Gene & boys went to Roy to get some stuff from Melvin.
May 31st Thurs. - 33+, cold, snow- Danny sick & Gene took him to town. I ironed. We covered tomatoes.
June 1951
June 1st Fri. -Cloudy, cool - Gib, Gene & I went to Lewistown. Al took Ted to scout meeting in Roy. Broke clutch in car.
June 2nd Sat. - 52+, partly cloudy, showers - Boys pulled car home. Mike & Monte came. Gene drove Al's car to Lewistown in PM. Ground feed for Baumans. Rays stopped.
June 3rd Sun. - Nice - Ray took Ted fishing. Dotson's brought calf out. I cleaned part of pantry shelves. Boys went to see oil drillers. 7 chicks.
June 4th Mon. - 64+, then cloudy & colder - I washed & baked. Gib went to Lewistown. Gib rode on range. Al hauled manure.
June 5th Tues. - 67+, cloudy, showers - Men helped Mike brand. I cleaned cupboard & pantry & ironed.
June 6th Wed. - 65+, mostly cloudy, heavy rain all night - I cleaned house. Boys worked on shed. Gib went to Roy. Harveys came. Bill & Emily came to Rays. Ted went to school.
June 7th Thurs. - Showers, nice - We all went to Rays for dinner. Took tractor out of dam.
June 8th Fri. - 58+, partly cloudy - Boys fixed fence. Gib rode over south to see cattle. Rays, Bill & Emily came & we went to see oil well.
June 9th Sat. - Nice. Boys fenced till noon. Bill & Emily came. Gene went to Lewistown & Al to Cheadle.
June 10th Sun. - Warm - We all had a picnic dinner down near the river. Then went to see oil well. Ray Spiroff came & boys all went to Baumans.

Aug 1st Wed. -92 to 70+, hot, then cooler & windy - Gene got home from Lewistown about 12:30. Combined oats for Ray. Ted & I looked at cattle over south & got some sage chickens. I hoed a little.
Aug 2nd Thurs. - 90+, hot - Baled on Rays till 10. Moved over here. Too green to cut. Boys hauled hay. I baked a cake, cookies & ironed some.

Nov 16th Fri. - 23+, clear & cold - I washed, mopped & ironed some. Cooked three hens & made noodles. Baked pies. Gib & Al traded bulls with Zahns.
Nov 17th Sat. - Cool, nice - We worked at Bazaar & deer drawing all day. Boys went to dance at Ross Fork.
Nov 18th Sun. - 42+, mild, nice - Gib & Ray went hunting. Got doe. Ted & Mildred went to Pucketts. I washed windows.
Nov 19th Mon. - 40+, nice - I went to Lewistown with Rays. Got tooth pulled. Gib & Al fixed car pass. Gene worked for Paul Fritz.
Nov 20th Tues. - 32+, cooler, snow & wind at night - I washed some & put on storm windows. Gib & Al brought old cow & Si's steer home. Gib to Roy. Rays came. Gene came home.
Nov 21st Wed. - Cold - I mopped, waxed floors & dusted. Baked cakes. Gene worked on his car.
Nov 22nd Thurs. - 29+, light snow - Rays, Pucketts & Peoples came for dinner. Gene went to Lewistown at night.
Nov 23rd Fri. - 26+, nice, bright - I crocheted, made out order & wrote to the kids (Dick & Margie). Rays stopped. Gib & Al ground feed & worked on shed.
Nov 24th Sat. - 30+, very nice - I washed some. Gib & Al helped Baumans vaccinate. Ted & I put on south storm door. Al & Ray S. went to dance at Cheadle.
Nov 25th Sun. - 32+, very nice - Gene came home, had gone to Great Falls. I baked bread & made jam.
Nov 26th Mon. - 47+, nice, mild - I washed. Gene worked on his car. Gib & Al worked on cattle shed.
Nov 27th Tues. - 47+, mild, nice - Gib hauled two loads of cattle for Baumans. Gene to Roy & helped Paul. Al cleaned barns. I ironed some & fixed Gene's suit cases.
Nov 28th Wed. - Nice - Men worked on cattle shed. Gene worked on his car. Gib dragged roads. Ray harrowed roads. I ironed. Rays came.
Nov 29th Thurs. - Windy & mild - Gib, Ted & I took Si's steer to town. Ted took treatment from Culley. Gene finished his car.
Nov 30th Fri. - 54+, lovely - Gene left to look for a job. Al went to Lewistown to get car fixed. Gib worked the gardens & put braces on storm door.
December 1951
Dec 1st Sat. - 38 to 50+, lovely - Gib & Al fenced at stack. Al washed pickup. Gib dragged yard. I washed & puttied windows.
Dec 2nd Sun. - Snowed 3 1/4 inches after 1 PM - I baked cookies. Al slept till noon. We went to Roy at night, but no church.
Dec 3rd Mon. - Nice - Gib, Ted & I went to Lewistown. Ted to Dr. Culley. Gene sick at Grampa's.
Dec 4th Tues. - 38+, nice - I washed. Gib & Al hauled oil cake. Gene came home for a few pans & dishes.
Dec 5th Wed. - 38+, very nice - Gib & Al hauled oil cake & coal. Al got coal for school. I baked bread & cookies. Gene came home for pans & dishes.
Dec 6th Thurs. - 32+, colder, snow & wind - I mopped, dusted & baked brown bread. Cut out dress for Janie. Gib & Al fed cattle, hauled straw & started to change wheels on tractor.
Dec 7th Fri. - 21+, clear, nice - Gib & Al finished tractor. Al worked on his car. Scalded eight hens. I made Janie dress & cleaned three hens.
Dec 8th Sat. - 30+, nice, clear - Gib & Al put cattle on Ackerlys. I mopped , ironed & painted lunch set. Rays came. Al went to Lewistown.
Dec 9th Sun. - 30+, blowing snow - Al came home at about 1 o'clock. Went to see Elizabeth. I painted lunch set. Ted sick with sore throat.
Dec 10th Mon. - 45+, mild - Ted sick. I made stuffed dog. Gib & Al brought cattle to water. We went to Scout meeting at night. Al got 85 rabbits.
Dec 11th Tues. - 45+, thawing - Ted sick. I darned sox & wrapped packages. Gib & Al helped Ray separate calves. Gib went to Legion Meeting.
Dec 12th Wed. - Nice - Gib, Ted & I to Lewiston. Ted to Dr. Pedersen. We had dinner with Gene.
Dec 13th Thurs. -20+, cold, heavy snow - Al took Ted to school. I baked fruit cakes & made cookies. Men let cattle come home. Al has a cold.
Dec 14th Fri.-16-, cold & clear-I made Ted's birthday cake. Painted figurines. Wrote to Dick & Margie. Men did chores & fed cattle.
Dec 15th Sat. - 14 to 2-, cold light snow all day, S.E. wind - Cleaned house. Men had trouble starting pickup. I sent Harold's & Bob's packages.
Dec 16th Sun. - Cold & snow - I wrote Xmas cards. Alice came to get Gib & Al to help get cows out of dam.
Dec 17th Mon. - Cold & strong W. wind, blowing snow - I washed & wrote Xmas cards.
Dec 18th Tues. - 12+, S.E. wind & snow all day - Gib & Al went to Roy. I baked bread. Rays came. Mildred gave me a Pin Curl permanent. Gib took Mildred home.
Dec 19th Wed. - 12-, cold & snow - I carried in snow. Doctored Ted & wrote cards. Men broke axle in pickup hauling hay.
Dec 20th Thurs. - 16-, clear & nice - I wrote cards.
Dec 21st Fri. - 16+ - lovely, mild - I finished cards & wrapped packages. Ted came home about 11 o'clock.
Dec 22nd Sat. - 16+, light snow - Gib, Al & Ray went to Roy for groceries. Mildred fixed my hair again. I cleaned house & ironed some. Al & Ted got 21 rabbits. Gene came home.
Dec 23rd Sun. - 12+, nice - Gene put in truck axle & worked on his car. Al to Roy for hair cut.
Dec 24th Mon. - 6+, clear & cold, bad wind - Rays & Monte helped butcher our pigs & Monte's. I finished presents.
Dec 25th Tues. - 2+, clear & nice - Drifted so we couldn't go to Lewistown. Gene left at 10. I mopped & put things away. We went to Rays in evening.
Dec 26th Wed. - Zero, cold & clear - Rays got water & went to Roy. I baked bread & rendered lard. Ted finished north storm door. Snow plow came out. Boys went to show.
Dec 27th Thurs. - 3+, nice - I rendered lard, 12 pounds.
Dec 28th Fri. - 33+, mild, S.W. wind - Allen went to Lewistown at noon. I made a slip & patched. Kosirs left groceries here at night.
Dec 29th Sat. - Getting colder - I cleaned house & washed windows. Al got home at noon. Kosirs came for groceries. Dick & Margie came at night. I baked.
Dec 30th Sun-8 to 14-, blowing & snowing-Dick worked on his car.
Dec 31st Mon. -10 to 30-, clearing & cold - Rays, Frank & Dicks here for supper. Bad roads.
