JANUARY 1943

Jan 1st Friday - Snow, cold - Cleaned S. house. I ironed.

Jan 2nd Saturday - Snow, cold - Cleaned house. Gib & boys put up snow fence.

Jan 3rd Sunday - Nice, 6 below - Baked cookies.

Jan 4th Monday - Nice, 25 above - Cleaned stove and mopped.

Jan 5th Tuesday- Cloudy, 29 above - Washed. Teacher stopped.

Jan 6th Wednesday - Nice, 39 above - Hung clothes out. Went to Mildreds.

Jan 7th Thursday - Mild, 40 above - Took skids out from under granary. Cleaned cellar.

Jan 8th Friday - 48 above - Gib hauled some lumber. I canned pumpkin.

Jan 9th Saturday - Thaw, 52 above - Boys sick. I made a pie. Weaned calves. Lucille & Sally Turner here for supper.

Jan 10th Sunday - Nice, mild 48 above - Made cake for Richard's birthday and patched.

Jan 11th Monday - Very nice - Ironed some. Gib put cattle over north.

Jan 12th Tuesday - Nice, 52 above - I washed clothes. Gib fixed line.

Jan 13th Wednesday - Windy, patched, 55 above - Patched. Cut out Ted's red jacket.

Jan 14th Thursday - Nice, 52 above - Ironed & sewed on jacket. Gib hauled straw.

Jan 15th Friday - Snow, N. wind, colder, blizzard, from 10 below to 45 above - Finished jacket. Gib got cattle home. Don stayed all night.

Jan 16th Saturday-Cold, clearing, up to 8 below - Don went home.

Jan 17th Sunday - Cold, 8 below - Baked and wrote to Alberts.

Jan 18th Monday - Nicer, 1 above - Patched, made vest for Richard and made apron.

Jan 19th Tuesday - Cold, snow, 18 below - Made apron and patched coat.

Jan 20th Wednesday - Cold, 12 below to 28 above - Darned sox, patched mittens and made cookies.

Jan 21st Thursday - Cold, blowing snow - Wrote to Emily.

Jan 22nd Friday - Cold - Made new collar for Gib's coat.

Jan 23rd Saturday-Cold, 12 above-Cleaned house. Washed sheets.

Jan 24th Sunday - Nice, 28 above to 6 below - Ray & Gib went to Galloway funeral.

Jan 25th Monday - Nice, from 29 below to 2 above - Washed & baked. School meeting here.

Jan 26th Tuesday - 12 below to 39 above - Gib hauled hay. I hung out clothes and made a cake.

Jan 27th Wednesday - Nice, 30 above & 4 above at night, 39 above - Gib hauled hay, two loads. Rays came.

Jan 28th Thursday - Nice, 12 above - I baked, ironed and made doughnuts. Gib killed colt and brought him home for chickens.

Jan 29th Friday - Fog & frosty, clearing, 12 above -

Jan 30th Saturday - Blowing, snowing, 19 above - Gib hauled hay.

FEBRUARY 1943

Feb 1st Monday - Nice, 40 above - I washed & waxed floor. Gib, Ray, and Mike went to meeting.

Feb 2nd Tuesday - Nice, 49 above - Shook up beds and baked cookies. Gib hauled hay.

Feb 3rd Wednesday - Nice, cooler, 34 above - Gib worked on Sovereign barn. I fixed Ted's house and patched overalls.

Feb 4th Thursday - Nice, 40 above - Gib & Ray hauled barn home. I baked cookies and cut out Ted's shirt.

Feb 5th Friday - Lovely, 36 above - Gib measured Rossiter house and hauled hay. I sewed and baked. Teacher stopped.

Feb 6th Saturday - Very nice, 58 above - Pucketts and Mrs. Wilson came. Gib hauled three loads of hay. I washed & darned.

Feb 7th Sunday-Nice, then cold- Gib looked at traps. I made a pie.

Feb 8th Monday - Cold & cloudy, 10 above - I darned sox and baked cookies.

Feb 9th Tuesday - Light snow, 10 below

Feb 10th Wednesday - Nicer, 26 above - Gib hauled hay. I embroidered and baked bread.

Feb 11th Thursday - Nice, 46 above - I washed. Mildred and I tried a permanent wave. Gib to Galloways.

Feb 12th Friday - Nice, clear, 42 above - Mildred washed. Finished our hair. Men went to Holoubaks.

Feb 13th Saturday - Thaw, 52 above - Gib hauled hay. I cleaned house and ironed.

Feb 14th Sunday - Nice, 50 above - Baked, cut hair and washed.

Feb 15th Monday - Nice - Went to Lewistown. Dams got a lot of water in them.

March 1st Monday - 5 below at 7AM

March 2nd Tuesday - Colder, 10 below - Gib took us home from Lewistown.

March 3rd Wednesday - Nice, mild - Gib hauled hay. I cleaned house. Harold and Vernon came.

March 4th Thursday - Snow, cold, zero - I cut out new dress and baked. Rays stopped on way to Pucketts.

March 5th Friday - Cold, 18 above - Worked on income tax.

March 6th Saturday - Nicer, 10 below up to 22 above - Finished crested wheat hay. I washed. Daisy X.

March 7th Sunday - Nice, 50 above - I ironed & patched. Rays came. Mike came.

March 8th Monday - Chilly, snow - Went to Lewistown.

March 9th Tuesday - Snow flying - 6 above to 30 above - Gib rode to Rays. Baked bread and a pie.

March 10th Wednesday - Chilly, wind, 30 above - Took Mildred to Galloways with us.

March 11th Thursday - Nice, clear, 42 above - I washed clothes and bedding. Gib fixed pig pen in barn.

March 12th Friday - Clear, windy, 50 above - Gib got cow from Galloways. I cleaned house.

March 13th Saturday - Snow all day, 38 above - Gib hauled cupboard from Ackerlys. I ironed.

March 14th Sunday - Snow, cold, 20 above - Took off wall paper and baked.

March 15th Monday - Cold, windy, 3 above - Started to put on wall paper. Baked a cake.

March 16th Tuesday - Cold wind, 10 below - Papered all day.

March 17th Wednesday - nicer, 6 below - Finished papering.

March 18th Thursday - 13 below to 36 above - Gib went to Roy. Cleaned house. Mildred here. Frank Southworth came. Baked.

March 19th Friday - Partly cloudy, 35 above - Mopped kitchen. 10 pigs.

March 20th Saturday - Nice, 38 above - Mildred here. I hung pictures. Gib hauled hay and water.

March 21st Sunday - Very nice, 52 above - Rays stopped.

March 22nd Monday - Very nice 56 above - I washed. Gib helped Ray butcher, then hauled a load of hay.

March 23rd Tuesday - S. West wind, creek running, 60 above - Bake bread and a cake. Rays came for canner.

March 24th Wednesday - Very mild, 65 above - Made sausage and scrapple. Gib rode to Mikes. Pinky fresh.

March 25th Thursday - Cooler, 45 above - Patched & ironed. Gib hauled hay and cleaned chicken house.

March 26th Friday - Snow, 32 above - Gib went to Roy and broke down. I finished dress, apron, and patched.

March 27th Saturday - S.W wind, nice, 62 above - Gib cleaned barn. I cleaned house and made cookies.

March 28th Sunday -S wind, nice, 76 above - Mildred here. Ray and Gib brought car home. Put pigs in pen.

March 29th Monday - SE wind, warm, 72 above - Gib took car apart and hauled manure. Mike dame. I baked and set plants. Planted tomatoes.

March 30th Tuesday - Bad wind, blew dirt, 52 above - We went to Lewistown.

March 31st Wednesday - Windy, showers, chilly 59 above - I washed. Gib put drive shaft in car.

APRIL 1943

April 1st Thursday - Nicer, 62 above - Gib helped Ray take tractor home. Ironed, churned and baked cookies.

April 2nd Friday - Went to Roy to be vaccinated for tick fever. Went on to Lewistown. I stayed there.

April 8th Thursday - Came home from Lewistown. Easter fresh.

April 9th Friday - Showers - Went to Roy. Gib worked road and Ackerlys.

April 10th Saturday - Nice, 66 above - Baked bread, burned trash, and baked a cake. Gib sowed wheat on Ackerlys.

April 11th Sunday - Very nice - Went to Mrs. Galloways party. Small twin calves

April 12th Monday - Strong NW winds, 68 above - Washed. Gib harrowed thistles. Mildred came.

April 13th Tuesday - Cloudy, cool, 45 above - Gib plowed on Sharps. I painted hall floor and baked.

April 14th Wednesday - Hot, clear, 72 above - Gib plowed. I burned trash and painted floor. Straw in garden. Teacher stopped. Two calves.

April 15th Thursday - Cool & windy, 64 above - I cleaned house. Gib plowed. 43 cattle, brockle face fresh.

April 16th Friday - Nice - I ironed. Gib finished plowing and sowed wheat. Mildred came. Set 9 hens.

April 17th Saturday - Nice - I hunted calves. Gib finished drilling on Sharps.

April 18th Sunday - Nice - Pucketts stopped. I baked bread, a cake, a pie and cookies.

April 19th Monday - Warm S wind, over 80 above - Gib drilled barley on Ackerlys. I transplanted a tree. Teacher stopped. Set two hens.

April 20th Tuesday - Nice - I made drapes and started Ted's suit. Gib duck footed and drilled. Ruby's heifer fresh, calf died.

April 21st Wednesday - Chilly, strong W. Winds, 56 above - Finished Ted's suit. Gib finished drilling wheat N. Rays came.

April 22nd Thursday - Went to Lewistown. Tiny fresh.

April 23rd Friday - I washed. Gib burned stubble and duck footed. Irene and Mrs. Myers came.

April 24th Saturday - Cold, bad wind, 60 above - Gib finished duck footing. Sprouted spuds and baked.

April 25th Sunday - Nice, cool, rain - Clarks came. Mr. Harvey stopped. Rays stopped.

April 26th Monday - cold & showers - I patched and fixed blinds. Gene & Allen home sick. All have colds. Tiny's heifer fresh.

April 27th Tuesday - Rain - I sewed. Gib and I sick.

April 28th Wednesday - Good rain in PM & all night - I sewed. Gib got twelve dozen eggs at Mikes. Gib sick. New calf.

April 29th Thursday - Rain & snow till late PM - I sewed.

April 30th Friday - Mostly cloudy, SE wind - Gib looked at horses. Baked and mopped. Set 10 hens.

MAY 1943

May 1st Saturday - Hard rain, W wind, 62 above - Gib & boys worked in shop. I cut seed spuds.

May 2nd Sunday - Nice - Dusted. Rays came. Weaned pigs.

May 3rd Monday - Warm, rain, 70 above - Planted spuds. Planted garden. Harvey Sims here all night. Truck broke down.

May 4th Tuesday - Nice, 69 above - I did two weeks washing. Gib duck footed.

May 5th Wednesday - Cold wind, 52 above - Gib sowed wheat all day. I baked bread.

May 6th Thursday - Sprinkles - Gib finished drilling wheat. I wrote letters.

May 7th Friday - Cloudy, rain - Gib to Roy, then sowed oats in small patch. I planted seven rows of peas.

May 8th Saturday - Nice - Planted spuds and garden.

May 9th Sunday - Sprinkles, 66 above - Baked bread and cake. Started 100 lbs flour.

May 10th Monday - Cold, snow showers, froze hard - Frank C came. I ironed. 85 chicks.

May 11th Tuesday- Nice- Gib went to Lelek's. I hemmed curtains.

May 12th Wednesday - cloudy, snow flurries - I washed and mopped. 23 chicks, red.

May 13th Thursday - clear & nice - We took kids to Clarks for exams. Gib & Ray went to Legion meeting. Pinky X.

May 14th Friday - Cold, E wind, cloudy, 45 above - I fixed chicken house and finished curtains. Gib went to Swans.

May 15th Saturday - Gib plowed oats ground. I planted squash and things.

May 16th Sunday - Nice, 68 above - Gib plowed. Went to Harveys.

May 17th Monday - Nice, 70 above - I washed windows & cleaned pantry. Gib harrowed.

May 18th Tuesday - Warm, 72 above - I washed. Teacher stopped. Messengers came. Rays came. Gib finished oats and took sow up.

May 19th Wednesday - Warm, 80 above - Gib fixed messengers tractor. I ironed.

May 20th Thursday - Warm - We went to Lewistown.

May 21st Friday - Warm, nice, 82 above - Gib sowed oats on W. flat. I set out plants. Gene Galloway came.

May 22nd Saturday - Windy, 76 above - Gib plowed old potato patch. I worked with chicks. Baked bread and cake. Planted zinnias.

May 23rd Sunday - Strong wind - School picnic.

May 24th Monday - Windy, 70 above - Planted corn. Washed.

May 25th Tuesday - Warm, shower - Hoed strawberries. Gib fixed tractor. Daisy X.

May 26th Wednesday - Warm, 80 above - Gib started to plow on Sharps. Baked. Sow bred X.

May 27th Thursday - Warm, 86 above - Hoed strawberries and ironed. Gib plowed on Sharps.

May 28th Friday - Warm, 84 above - Gib plowed. I set out plants. Turned water on garden. Mildred here. Got sow.

May 29th Saturday - Warm, shower, 82 above - Gib finished plowing Sharps. Shined stoves.

May 30th Sunday - 38 above - Baked cookies.

May 31st Monday - Shower - Washed. Worked on pigs.

June 2nd Wednesday - Rain all day, cool, 50 above - Went to garden. Painted E & S windows.

June 3rd Thursday - Rain all night, cold, 36 above - I sewed on brown suit. Gib looked at cattle.

June 4th Friday - Showers, cool, 54 above - Painted kitchen wood work. Gib to Rays and worked on hog house. Baked.

June 5th Saturday - Clearing, nice

June 6th Sunday - Shower - Patched overalls.

June 7th Monday - Heavy showers - Gib worked on hog house. Planted beans. Baked cookies.

June 8th Tuesday-Nice- I washed. Gib & boys finished hog house.

June 9th Wednesday -Shower, 73 above - I baked & hoed. Gib & boys worked on hog house.

June 10th Thursday - Nice - I ironed.

June 11th Friday - Nice - Gib worked on hog fence. I varnished kitchen floor.

June 12th Saturday - Rain - Waxed floor.

June 13th Sunday - Clearing - I made brown dress Emma sent.

June 14th Monday - Very heavy rain, 52 above - Dams running over. I patched.

June 15th Tuesday - Showers, clearing, 56 above - Patched and embroidered. Sprouted spuds. Gib took lumber out of Soverigns house.

June 16th Wednesday - Nice, drying - Finished my jacket dress. Men worked on Sovereign house.

June 17th Thursday - Nice - Gib fixed hog fence.

June 18th Friday - Warm, then bad storm - Went to Lewistown.

June 19th Saturday - Nice - Washed. Gib fixed west side of hog fence.

June 20th Sunday - Nice - Baked bread and a cake. Cleaned house. Cultivated spuds. Carl Burs came.

June 21st Monday - Nice - Had 4-H club meeting. Gib fixed Clarks tractor.

June 22nd Tuesday - Cool, windy - Put pigs in new pen. Cultivated corn. Rays came.

June 23rd Wednesday - Mildred brought tomato plants. I baked bread.

June 24th Thursday - Worked on Sharps fence. Churned.

June 25th Friday - Short rain & hail late PM - Worked on Sharps fence.

June 26th Saturday - Nice, cool, 76 above - Mildred came for a few minutes. Gib helped Ray fix tractor.

June 27th Sunday - Nice, cool, 72 above - Branded our calves. Mrs. Myers and Mildred here. I baked.

June 28th Monday - Warm, 76 above - Branded Mike's calves. Gib cut hay. I washed. School meeting here.

June 29th Tuesday - Warm, 80 above - Gib cut hay. Mildred came. Set out cabbage plants.

June 30th Wednesday - Partly cloudy, warm - Went to Lewistown. Boys stayed at Rays.

JULY 1943

July 1st Thursday - I ironed. Gib mowed. Boys shocked.

July 2nd Friday - Warm, 86 above - Gib mowed. Boys shocked. Mrs. Galloway here in PM. Baked.

July 3rd Saturday - I baked buns and two cakes. Gib raked hay.

July 4th Sunday - Hot, showers - Went to rodeo.

July 5th Monday - Hot, 92 above - I washed. Gib mowed awhile, then plowed all PM.

July 6th Tuesday - Hot, 94 above - Gib plowed and sprayed bugs. Boys shocked.

July 7th Wednesday - Hot, 98 above - Hoed garden. Gib plowed. Boys shocked.

July 8th Thursday - Hot, 90 above - Hoed garden. Gib finished plowing at 2:30. Mowed hill. Started hose.

July 9th Friday - Nice, breeze, 90 above - Baked bread and cookies, picked strawberries and hoed. Don came. Gib helped fix Ray's tractor and mowed.

July 10th Saturday - Hot, 86 above - Hoed. Mildred here sick. Gib mowed & raked. Boys cut clover out of wheat.

July 11th Sunday - Nice, 80 above, rain - Gib raked. I cooked a hen, watered garden and patched.

July 12th Monday - Cook, 68 above - Gib fixed clothes line and saw cattle. Gib mowed in AM. Boys hoed spuds.

July 13th Tuesday - Cool, windy, 78 above - I washed. Gib mowed & raked. Boys hoed spuds.

July 14th Wednesday - Warm, 88 above - Hoed corn. Gib mowed & raked. I washed windows, dusted and baked. Mildred came.

July 15th Thursday - Nice, 70 above - Gib mowed up south. I went to Mildred. Men went to Legion meeting.

July 16th Friday - Nice, 76 above - Gib mowed and raked. I cut weeds with scythe. Baked cookies. Put heifers on Sharps.

July 17th Saturday - Hot, 86 above - Gib mowed and raked. Mildred ironed. I cut hair.

July 18th Sunday - Hot, 88 above - Boys went to Spiroffs. Gib raked hay. I patched overalls.

July 19th Monday - Hot, 97 above - Gib finished mowing. Mildred here. Baked bread and cookies.

July 20th Tuesday - Hot, 98 above- Gib stacked. I washed.

July 21st Wednesday - Hot, 98 above - Gib stacked. I hoed strawberries.

July 22nd Thursday - Cloudy, nice, 86 above - Gib stacked alfalfa. Mildred came. Canned peas.

July 23rd Friday - 88 above - Gib stacked. I cleaned cupboard, ironed and trimmed trees.

July 24th Saturday - Hot, 100 above - Gib stacked in AM. I cleaned house, baked and cut weeds.

July 25th Sunday - Hot, 102 above - The folks and Uncle Wills here for dinner. Rays stopped.

July 26th Monday - Cool, showers, down to 58 above at night to 70 above - Mildred and I canned peas. Men worked on combine.

July 27th Tuesday - Hot, 97 above - Gib & Gene went to Lewistown. I canned peas and made root beer.

July 28th Wednesday - Nice, breeze, 90 above - Men worked on combine. Mildred canned peas. Hoed strawberries.

July 29th Thursday - Warm, 87 above - Gib worked on combine. I washed and baked a cake.

July 30th Friday - Hot, 98 above - Gib worked on combine. Mildred and I ironed.

July 31st Saturday - Hot, 104 above - Gib plowed and summer fallowed on Sharps. I hoed and patched.

AUGUST 1943

Aug 1st Sunday - Cooler, 84 above - Gib and Richard finished plowing on Sharps. I canned peas.

Aug 2nd Monday - Cool & rain - We went to see a circus. It rained.

Aug 3rd Tuesday - Nice, rain - Came home about noon. Cleaned house. Gib fixed granary on Ackerlys and Don Came. Rays came.

Aug 4th Wednesday - Nice, rain - Gib fixed roof on granary. Went to Roy. I baked. Southworths came.

Aug 5th Thursday - Warm, 94 above - I washed. Men worked on combine. Mildred canned beets.

Aug 6th Friday - Warm, 96 above - Gib combined barley. I ironed and made jam.

Aug 7th Saturday - Hot, 96 above - Cleaned house, waxed floors and baked. Gib and boys went to watch the dam builders.

Aug 8th Sunday - Nice, cool, 80 above - Alton and Alta, Dean and Ann here for dinner and supper.

Aug 9th Monday - Nice, 84 above - Broke combine. Gib went to Lewistown. I was sick. Made a pie.

Aug 10th Tuesday - Hot, 90 above - Gib came home about 2:30 and fixed combine. I washed hair and finished dresser scarf.

Aug 11th Wednesday - Partly cloudy, warm, 90 above - Gib combined on Ackerlys. We canned fruit, made root beer & baked.

Aug 12th Thursday - Warm - Gib combined here and Ackerly's.

Aug 13th Friday - Hot, 90 above -Gib combined on Rays. I ironed.

Aug 14th Saturday - Cool, 75 above - Cultivated garden, picked peas and ironed. Gib combined on Rays.

Aug 15th Sunday - Cool, 79 above - Gib combined here. Broke down most of the time. Mildred canned beans. Baked.

Aug 16th Monday - Hot, 88 above - Gib combined S. field. Harvey hauled. Dried corn.

Aug 17th Tuesday - Hot, 96 above - Gib finished wheat here. Harvey hauled. Mrs. Myers brought beans. Canned seven quarts.

Aug 18th Wednesday - Hot, 98 above - Gib combined on Rays and moved to Copes. I washed, mopped and canned seven quarts of beans. Roany fresh.

Aug 19th Thursday - Cooler, nice, 80 above - Gib combined Copes. We canned thirty five quarts of corn.

Aug 20th Friday - Warm, 86 above - Men combining on Galloways. We canned twenty two quarts of corn.

Aug 21st Saturday - Hot, 94 above - Men combining on Galloways. Canned corn. Men came home.

Aug 22nd Sunday - Nice, 84 above - Don Harvey came. Men combined McLaughlins and Peoples. We went to Mildreds with the team.

Aug 23rd Monday - Warm, 81 above - Men combined Messengers. Canned beans and pickles. Baked and ironed. Bob Marsh here.

Aug 24th Tuesday - Nice, 84 above - Men got to Sharps at noon. Harvey hauled one load of wheat. We dried corn. Bob went home.

Aug 25th Wednesday - Light showers, cool, 76 above - Men worked on combine. I hoed and cut hair. Mr. Harvey hauled two loads of wheat.

Aug 26th Thursday - Warm, 86 above - Gib finished combining Sharps. Rays to town. I canned peaches.

Aug 27th Friday - warm, 86 above - I washed at Mildreds. Canned fruit. Men combined. Rossiters came.

Aug 28th Saturday - Warm, 88 above - I washed overalls and canned plums. Men combined on Rays. I cleaned house.

Aug 29th Sunday - Hot, 94 above- Baked bread and cookies. Hoed garden. Put down pickles.

Aug 30th Monday - Cloudy & cool, 80 above - Gib combined our oats. I ironed and shortened shirt sleeves. Cattle came home.

Aug 31st Tuesday - Cool, nice 77 above - Gib finished combining. I fixed shirts. Horses came home.

SEPTEMBER 1943

Sept 1st Wednesday - Cool & cloudy, 80 above - Mr. Harvey hauled. Gib & boys fixed wells & fence at Sharps. I patched. Caught chickens.

Sept 2nd Thursday - Cool, 65 above - Harvey hauled two load from Ackerlys. Gib fixed fence. Got ready to go to Lewistown. Caught chickens.

Sept 3rd Friday - Cool - Went to Lewistown.

Sept 4th Saturday - Nice - Cleaned school house.

Sept 5th Sunday - Bad wind, 70 above - Baked bread and a cake. Swan came. Ted sick.

Sept 6th Monday - Chilly, windy, 74 above - Washed. Gib & boys stacked in PM. Allen sick.

Sept 7th Tuesday - Cool, windy, 60 above - I canned peaches. Gib got barley. Gene sick.

Sept 8th Wednesday - Nice, 64 above - I canned fruit. Gib hauled water and stacked hay.

Sept 9th Thursday - Nice, 80 above - Mildred came. We finished canning and washed bedding. Gib hayed.

Sept 10th Friday - Nice, 85 above - Ironed. Gib fixed fence, penned off sow and hayed.

Sept 11th Saturday - Nice, 88 above - Baked bread and cookies. Washed kitchen windows. Gib stacked hay.

Sept 12th Sunday - Warm, 82 above - Went to see airplane. Dusted and patched,

Sept 13th Monday - Nice, 82 above - I washed by hand. Gib went to Roy. Copes, Pucketts and Sirokys came. Gib went to get Don to take the horses.

Sept 14th Tuesday - Cool, 68 above - Gib went to Roy to sell horses. I ironed, went to garden.

Sept 15th Wednesday - Nice - Went to Lewistown. Ted & I stayed.

Sept 17th Friday-cooler- Dad brought Mama to new home in town.

Sept 18th Saturday - Cold & rainy - Took out garden stuff.

Sept 19th Sunday - Cold - Alton & Alta at folks for dinner. We went to show in evening. Uncle Will & girls came.

Sept 20th Monday - Cool - I washed for Mama. Went to Neills.

Sept 21st Tuesday - Nicer - Took treatment from Kiddes. Went to Altons.

Sept 22nd Wednesday - Warm, I went to Dr. Welden. Margaret came home from Portland.

Sept 23rd Thursday - Warm - I went to see Edith Moore. Brady girls came. Uncle Wills came.

Sept 24th Friday - Too warm - We came home from Lewistown. Frank Southworth here. Gene was sick with cold.

Sept 25th Saturday - 85 above - I washed some and cleaned house. Men stacked hay. Richard was sick.

Sept 26th Sunday - Hot, 86 above - I baked and ironed. Washed hair. Swan came.

Sept 27th Monday - Hot, 84 above - I canned pears and plums. Gib sick with cold.

Sept 28th Tuesday - Nice, 82 above - I washed by hand. Gib & boys stacked hay out NW. School meeting.

Sept 29th Wednesday - Nice, 80 above - Gib & boys stacked. I mopped and waxed floors and washed windows.

Sept 30th Thursday - Nice, 84 above- Gib & boys stacked NW. I embroidered and crocheted.

OCTOBER 1943

Oct 1st Friday - Warm, 80 above - Gib hauled seed wheat and stacked. I ironed and fixed screen doors.

Oct 2nd Saturday-Hot, 87 above-Gib stacked hay all day. I baked.

Oct 3rd Sunday - Hot, 84 above - Rays came. Gib & boys fixed spring on trailer. Caught chickens.

Oct 4th Monday - Hot, 80 above - I ironed. Gib stacked.

Oct 5th Tuesday - Hot - Canned tomatoes. Gib cleaned wheat & stacked.

Oct 6th Wednesday - Smoky, S West, cooler, wind - Went to Lewistown. Ted went to school.

Oct 7th Thursday - I made jam. Spiroffs brought tomatoes.

Oct 8th Friday - Warm, 84 above - I washed some. No school so they finished stacking hay.

Oct 9th Saturday - Warm, 88 above - I cleaned house, baked bread and a cake. Gib & boys fixed bin in hog pen.

Oct 10th Sunday - Nice - Cut hair. Went to Cope's.

Oct 11th Monday - Cloudy, cool, windy, 64 above - Gib sowed winter wheat on SE field. Galloways and Mrs. Messenger came. Rays came.

Oct 12th Tuesday - Cool, smoky, windy, 54 above - Gib finished wheat. Harvey brought coal. I canned tomatoes.

Oct 13th Wednesday - Bad wind, cold, 42 above - We washed. Cope's came.

Oct 14th Thursday - Windy, 52 above - Baked bread. Gib sowed some wheat on Sharps.

Oct 15th Friday - Nice, 64 above - Men went hunting. Mildred & Clara came. I ironed and sewed Mama's dress.

Oct 16th Saturday - Nice, 60 above - Gib finished wheat on Sharps. Mildred came for mail.

Oct 17th Sunday - Cloudy, nice, 60 above - Cut out red checked dress. Gib went to Mikes. Frank Southworth & Ray came.

Oct 18th Monday - Cloudy, cool. 56 above - Canned venison and Tomatoes. Gib cleaned wheat.

Oct 19th Tuesday - Rain all day, 36 above - I made Mama's apron and baked bread. Gib worked on vat.

Oct 20th Wednesday - Light snow, 44 above - I sewed up red checked dress. Gib made scalding vat.

Oct 21st Thursday - Cool, partly cloudy, 46 above - I washed.

Oct 22nd Friday - Nice, 52 above - I washed windows, waxed floors and baked Allen's cake. Gib went to John Tuma's.

Oct 23rd Saturday - Cold, SW wind, 42 above - Ray helped butcher hog. I dusted & sewed on dress.

Oct 24th Sunday-Nice, 56 above - I finished dress. Harveys came.

Oct 25th Monday - Nice, 74 above - Harveys took pigs to town. Gib went to Leleks.

Oct 26th Tuesday - Nice - Went to Lewistown. Bought six calves.

Oct 27th Wednesday - Nice - Harvey brought six calves out. We cut up meat. Gib fixed stacks. Teacher stopped.

Oct 28th Thursday - Nice, 58 above - I washed. Gib fixed stacks.

Oct 29th Friday - Foggy, nice, 60 above - I fixed Mildred's hair. Gib went to Roy.

Oct 30th Saturday - Rain & snow, 40 above - I ironed. Gib fixed calf pens. Don came.

Oct 31st Sunday - Snow - Boys wrote letters. I made cookies.

NOVEMBER 1943

Nov 1st Monday - Clear, still, 37 above - I cleaned house and sorted papers. Gib looked at cattle.

Nov 2nd Tuesday - Nice, 52 above - I patched, baked, & canned beans.

Nov 3rd Wednesday - Cloudy, 50 above - Gib made N. barn door. I painted stove and mopped.

Nov 4th Thursday - Partly cloudy, 50 above - Made doll clothes. Sick with colds.

Nov 5th Friday -stormy, from 34 above to 40 above - Made airplanes. Cut out Ted's jacket. Don came. Sick with colds.

Nov 6th Saturday - Chilly, 40 above - Worked on Ted's jacket. Gib & boys piled lumber.

Nov 7th Sunday - Nice - Finished Ted's jacket.

Nov 8th Monday - Nice - We washed. Gus came.

Nov 9th Tuesday - Nice, 54 above - Baked bread and doughnuts. Rays came. Charles & Victor came.

Nov 10th Wednesday - Nice - Went to Lewistown.

Nov 11th Thursday - Nice, 50 above - Gus came over. Gib shingled garage. I made Ted some pants.

Nov 12th Friday - Nice, 50 above - I ironed. Gib plowed spud patch. Harvey hauled our scrap. Cope's came.

Nov 13th Saturday - Nice, 50 above - Gib duck footed gardens. I patched and cut out Ted's overalls.

Nov 14th Sunday - Nice - Made a fruit cake and cookies and patched overalls. Allen helped Mike get his cow.

Nov 15th Monday-Nice-We went to Cope's. I went to Mildreds. Gus helped move radio poles. Mrs. Puckett here. I sewed Ted pants.

Nov 16th Tuesday - Nice, 70 above - Finished Ted's pants. Mildred here. Gib plowed ditch at garden.

Nov 17th Wednesday - Nice, 68 above - I washed. Gib branded Mike's colts and our calves. Teacher stopped.

Nov 18th Thursday - Nice, 58 above - I worked on income tax. Gib worked on Harvey's truck.

Nov 19th Friday - Nice, 60 above - I ironed and washed windows. Gib cleaned stove pipe. Rays came in new car.

Nov 20th Saturday - Nice, 58 above - Baked bread, a cake, washed and fixed quilts. Gib & boys fixed fence.

Dec 4th Saturday- Gib, the boys and Mildred came to Lewistown.

Dec 8th Wednesday - Snow - I left the hospital. Went to the folks.

Dec 21st Tuesday - Papa sick with flu.

Dec 23rd Thursday -Mama sick. Ted sick.

Dec 24th Friday -

Dec 25th Saturday - Nice - Had dinner at Uncle Wills. Came home from Lewistown.

Dec 26th Sunday - Rays came.

Dec 27th Monday - Harveys came.

Dec 28th Tuesday - Went to Lewistown to Frank Southworths wedding.

Dec 30th Thursday - Butchered the old sow. Mrs. Myers came. Harold Bauman came.
